How to know if knock sensors are bad?

Hi , how do you know how to install it right, because it fits eather way. I replaced an engine and don't know if I installed the knock sensor right. Does it make a difference? Because my vehicle keeps telling me knock sensor bank 1 and 2

Also my bmw 328i doesn't accelerate as fast from a full stop like something is holding it, the engine works fine, new spark plugs and coils, could this be because of knock sensor

Engine limp mode / malfunction . Jerky / hesitative throttle . Poor fuel Economy . In other words you’ll definitely know . Best to have a cheap code reader always .
