M240i uses the more mass market B58 engine, shared with the M340i, X3 M40i, etc. The M2, M3 and M4 use the S58 engine in various tunes. The S has increased bore and decreased stroke for more top end power over torque. Internals like crankshaft and pistons are forged. The mod potential is significant with many safe mods pushing upwards of 750hp with good quality fuel.

I am not really a fan of the looks tbh. The previous gen M2 was so much better and aggressive looking but this new M2, at least for me, doesn't look very appealing. Nevertheless, performance is breathtaking and the fact that itbcomes with a manual transmission makes it an insanely fun car to drive. BMW hasn't compromised with the driving feel, which is commendable and the most vital thing about a Beamer. However, they should work on improving their design language. All in all, it appears to be an absolutely amazing car to drive and your review, which am watching atm, has been amazing like always.

The use of touchscreens (especially the infotainment touchscreen) in sporty cars is killing the experience. A dedicated drive mode selector and decicated AC controls should've been given at this price point. Also, I wonder what happens when this screen fails. One loses the ability to change ANY setting of the car.

CORRECTION PLEASE!! : I have driven manual 6-speed BMW 1 series in Germany - there they do sell manual in fair numbers - only in India/USA, 99% BMW are auto transmission - so BMW has plenty of experience of Manual.... And, the BMW manual shifts were pretty nice as I experienced in the past. But gradually in India, even lower brands are selling more auto than manual due to horrible city traffic....I love manual anytime.

Can anyone suggest a good looking BMW(or a comparable German car) in the 50-80 lakh range. Criteria: 1. Looks- sporty, rare. Not like the regular BMWs or Audis. 2. Ground clearance suitable for daily drives. 3. Convertible if possible, but not mandatory. 4. Performance isn't a criteria. I haven't found roads to go above 150 anyway. And I prefer 100-120.
