I have a M3 and you are 100% right...the driving experience. And, the M340i looks the same as the regular 340....and you don't even know it's a M340i unless you are driving behind it. The M3 stands out, fast and the carbon fiber details are incredible.

I looked around and ended up picking up an M340 Xdrive over the m3 for several reasons. First of all, you can pick up an M 340 for 55-60k with low miles, spend 5k on it and get the same performance as an M3. Second, I'm a big fan of the sleeper look and there's nothing better than walking a straight piped coyote in a normal looking sedan. Lastly, as a daily you can't beat the 30+ mpg and comfort day in and day out, while also having the same performance as the M3 with the press of the sport button(plus some tuning lol).

It makes sense from economic perspective and you can also make it faster by adding tunes and some hardware for sure but M3 G80 just hits different with those aggressive body lines/front fascia, much rigid chassis feel and M Xdrive with option to transform into pure RWD mode on the fly. I feel 15-20k price over M340 is very well justified for all the extra goodies you get

Got to pay to play, the M340 and the G80 are two total different cars. I drove both and now own a G80 Comp, no comparison in handling, engine response, chasis stability, and overrall looks. I thought the 340 would be similar considering the M in front of the 340, but boy was I wrong! Not taking away from the B58, great engine and properly tuned, hurts lots of feeling on the drag and the track, but it's no S58!

The fuel economy on G80 M3 Competition can do 30+ mpg as well on highway/express way. And it is quite comfortable on long trip. But it can be bad if you commute to work in downtown every day with it. 330 and 340 are the good choice for people who drive to work in downtowns.

Yeah, for my 2nd car I’m planning on getting it. Since I definitely want performance and want to take something out on the track, or be able to beat a few cars at a red light. I think this would be a good option. And the budget will probably be around 55k.

Have an M2C. Drove the M340 and the G80 M3 and would probably get the M340 as a daily plenty quick.

I was in the market a year ago for a new car. Couldn't stand the m3 grill for the asking price. Decided to go with a loaded portimao blue m340i and save nearly $20k. M3 is on the different level but 340 is a good compromise. All depends on buyer preference and need.

Love the M3 but it has become a little too expensive. I feel like the M340i is a better buy value wish. I also like the look of the M340i better from the front. If you can swing the 20k plus difference then obviously buy the M3

I agree that the m3 is beginning to cost a little too much definitely not more than it’s worth it’s a great car it’s got the power, looks and characteristics of a great sports car but if prices are gonna keep increasing because of technologies we don’t need then it’s a little unfair and yeah the m340i is a good car but it will always be the “ not an m3” car and these cars never do good simply because they become more and more neglected over time and since the m3 will be losing value like crazy it’ll make the m340i more and more the “bad option” but honestly I like them both I’m not against the m340i but if I wanna buy a bmw I’m gonna try my best to make it an m3 comp rather than an m340i but I believe I mentioned that it’s completely up to the buyer and their needs so you do make a good point and hopefully the next m3 isn’t too expensive

M340 is just a very fast 330i while M3 is a totally different car that looks different in a much aggressive and appealing way. It also comes with a real M Chassis, M XDrive and much higher quality parts used in drivetrain making it more abuse friendly

330i is way underwhelming compared to the might I6 cylinder engine of M340i. It is not as good as a true M car but don't insult it by saying its a slightly faster 330i. Entirely different engine

The 330i has the 2.0 4 cylinder, around 250HP. The M340 has the same displacement as the M3. 3.0L 6 cylinder 382hp. Downpipe, cold air intake, exhaust, tune and your looking at 500HP for around 3k-5K. The M3 is 15K more so imagine what you could do with just half that, and you now have 650HP. But if you are a primarily track focused, then get the M3 since that's the only place it would show where the other 7k went to while not forgetting that taking the other 7K (only need about 4k) into suspension upgrades would turn the M340 into something the M3 Comp could not compete with.

I want a c7 zo6 those are in the 70-80s I can’t justify spending that on the m3 when I can the m340i for way less I want a daily thats luxury and have speed so me personally I’d take the 340i

Yeah I get what you mean and each one of us has their own taste butt he zo6 c7 is a death trap I don’t know if you’ve ever driven one but that car is uncontrollably fast plus paying 80k for a used corvette seems a little over the top but if it’s what you want then a zo6 and a 340i aren’t a bad pairing at all

I would go with the M340i new 63k M3 competition 90k .. I could do full carbon, fiber arrow kit for 2k, A nice AWE exhaust 2k , Do a tube and down pipe for 3k for the same HP & Tq . I think also the M340i frontend looks better then the M3

Same HP and Tq as a stock M3 Comp probably even more, but not many keep their cars stock now in days. Tune for tune, a M340 will never touch a M3.

Hell yeah. Def M3 the better buy. Especially if you want to look just as good and hang with/ annihilate other performance cars on the road in that price range. Such as Coyotes, GT350s, Scat Packs and Camaro 2SS. M340i isn’t bad but it couldn’t do that like an M3 would.

This guy 😂😂 he sound like them old M head guys. Price can play a factor but isn’t always the case of why someone don’t get it. I had the option of going m5/4/and 3. I drove them all. I picked the 340i Xdrive M Performance. Why? For a daily it’s easier to live with, ride, and doesn’t scream for attention. I’ve don’t many many upgrades turbo, fueling blah blah and the m3 competition would need turbo upgrades, fueling blah blah to outrun me. My car is fully optioned. Every thing to add when building it I have. A wolf in sheep clothing SERIOUSLY.

I test drove the bmw m850 I loved it then I test drove the m8 I bought it while yes you can buy the cheaper car to “save” money bare in mind bmw isn’t the most reliable car manufacturer out there so once you get into upgrading turbos etc.. you’re just driving a ticking time bomb that is still not as fast as the comp so you need to factor that as well so bottom line is if a person can afford a comp they will get it no one ever said oh shit let me go get the second best thing that’s not how things work guys go buy the m340 because they can’t afford a comp then go put themselves in debt to add mods to make themselves feel smarter and no body wants a “fake” M over the real deal sound, driving experience, handling, better styling (imo) and much more and again its a bmw they will only ever be daily cars for a brief while then it all goes south doesn’t matter M or not plus m cars in comfort mode are pretty much base models very easy to drive and live with so COMP over anything else

🤣🤣🤣 what HP you got on a 340I Xdrive where a M3 comp need upgraded turbos to keep up? For one if a M3 Comp need upgraded turbos to keep up with your M340I x-drive, that means that you have upgraded turbos on a built motor. There are G80's out there pushing 700+ whp on stock turbos. You're reaching dude. I have no doubt your car is fast AF, but the statement that a M3 comp need upgraded turbos to keep up with a B58 is comical, unless and a big unless, your B58 is built.

We have car reviews on the channel of really nice cars but unfortunately because the channel is small no dealership in their right state of mind would give me a performance car that cost over 80 thousand dollars so In order to get there we have to make all sorts of videos also if you check more recent videos we did try our best to improve both video and Audio quality but anyways thanks for the comment

@doggystyledave where I live we don’t get base m3 it’s either m340 or m3 comp and most of our viewers at the time were from the same place I’m from so I was talking based on that I didn’t expect the video to get views to be honest so maybe that’s what causes a bit of confusion for some :)
