It's quite simple. They have a price ceiling, and within that, they (Audi, Mercedes, BMW) pay more focus to this or that side of the car. If we stay within the RS/S -- M -- AMG frame, BMW clear makes the most "supercar like" engines. Audi cares more about beauty. The AMG engines have that 6,3L size that gives them a funny sound, but little else.

Go check out what the Edition 507 W204 are worth compared to the regular W204 real quick and you'll have a better understanding of what i mean.
