How’s this for an almighty German group test?! Mat’s got his hands on the BMW M5 CS, Audi RS6, Porsche Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid & the AMG GT 4-Door 63 S to find out which is the ultimate German performance car!
Let’s face it, when it comes to mighty machines like this, there’s only one place to start - the engines!
The Audi may be the least powerful car here, but it still packs a huge 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet to deliver 600hp & 800Nm of torque. It’s then followed by the BMW, which is equipped with a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 which puts down 635hp & 750Nm of torque.
When it comes to torque though, the AMG dwarfs the BMW! It may ‘only’ have a 4-litre twin-turbo V8, but it can deliver 639hp and an awesome 900Nm of torque. And then finally we have the Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid. Thanks to an electric motor joining its 4-litre twin-turbo V8, it can deliver 700hp & 870Nm!

Considering the Audi costing nearly 50k£ less than the others it‘s doing so damn well against them. Except in terms of power. It definitely needs more power to compete against them. Especially against the M5 wich surely doesn’t have just 635 hp. More like 700

The new or rather current gen M3 is doing around 50-70 more HP than they claimed, sometimes even more. So I'd estimate the M5 CS at around 700 to 720 HP but it's also quite a bit lighter, making it easer to reach those times than the other cars. Would still pick the RS6 any day of the week though, it's too beautiful for me but I need it in a different colour.

To be fair though, bmw is always conservative with their times and statistics. Like you will get the 3.3 on a bad day and it'll be like the slowest time you will get, and the 617 bhp is like we know for 100% that there are 617 horses in there but there are probably almost undoubtedly more in there.

It's all about preference and beauty is in the eye of the beholder but to me the Audi is bland. Quite a lot of their car designs are bland. You have a top of the range RS6 but no pumped up looks, no sculpted out air intakes, nothing. Just looks like a plain old estate

Actually, it should be M8 Gran Coupé vs AMG GT 63s vs RS7 vs Panamera. Because they all share the coupé shape. If it was actual Sedans it would have been the M5 CS vs E 63s vs Panamera and the RS6 since there is no sedan variant. However the Alpina B5 Touring vs E 63s Wagon vs RS6 vs Panamera Turbo S Sports Tourismo would have been the best option

You can tell the first RS6 launch was not actually a launch. You can tell from it's hesitant launch / pick up after about 40km/h. On the 2nd launch it you can tell it actually engaged launch control. My RS3 does the same if it doesn't engage launch control properly.
