Lifetime BMW owner for over 20 yrs so far. A friend of mine has this car. It's almost pointless to own this car without a chauffer because the back seats offer so much comfort and are the best. But BMW is really built for the driver's enjoyment, not a Maybach.

What that means: BMW are so advanced yet foreseeably problematic and to remedy those mechanical and electrical problems will be the affordable, reliable and honest independent mechanic. In other words, DO NOT BUY a BMW unless you know a Good, Affordable mechanic. Past warranty that is.

In total I had four BMWs (including the latest 7 series) over a time period of 15 years and only had one electrical problem which was paid for completely by BMW even after the warranty expired. I also bought a new Porsche Cayenne in 2013. I still have it. Not a single problem with that car as well. My Jaguar XJ was the complete opposite. Next car coming in October: BMW X5 M Competition
