BMW M8 Prototype E31 - The Priceless BMW

The BMW M8 Prototype E31 is arguably one of most valuable concept cars in BMW’s portfolio. The one-off is not only a priceless prototype, but also one of BMW’s best engineering achievements.
The E31 BMW M8 received 640 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque from a 6.0 liter V12 engine. Unbelievable numbers considering the prototype is over 30 years old. T0day, BMW's most powerful production series vehicle - the M5 CS - only makes 627 horsepower.
Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, the E31 BMW M8 prototype is also quite fast. No official numbers were ever released, but BMW M says that it should be significantly faster than the 6.0 seconds quoted in the BMW 850CSi from 1992. Top speed you might ask? 300 km/h (198 mph).
At the 2022 Amelia Concours d'Elegance, BMW showcased once again their one-off M8 Prototype E31. And we were on site to learn more about the car.

I guess, around the year 1990 this car would have a pricetag of 300.000 DM! Today it would be worth a Million! But, since this car is a one of two (The other one crashed long ago...) it's worth even more! It's priceless because BMW Classic will keep it anyway! Just like Mercedes keep their most expensive car, the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut!😉

Waaaaaant it so badly😩 I was 15 years old in summer of '91 when I saw it on the italian car magazine "Quattroruote" and I immediately felt in love with it. Curious to say that I've always loved the style also because it's the only 850 E31 wich lacks of pop up headlights, perhaps I've always found the style of the front much more clean and mysterious without the cuts of the headlights.

Yeah, looks much more dynamic without the pop up headlights! Also the side air intakes make it look more sporty! The only problem I have with the 8 Design are the way too big tail lights! Besides that the M8 would have been the ultimate M Sportscar... And even today! It has a roaring V12 engine with twice the power of a standard 850 csi, manual transmission, lots of carbon and alcantara and bucket seats! Perfect, even today!😍😎

The ultimate M Sportscar!😍 The spec's of that car are amazing and totally up to date, even today! Yes, even today many people would like to own a n/a V12 manual transmission Sportscar with RWD! All the goodies which make a very good and desireful car even today, BMW built 30 years ago! Amazing!👌

Sometimes you need to reinforce the interviewee that you're actively engaged. Otherwise, they might feel like the tempo is dropping. That's all it is. In a way, it encourages him or her to keep going cause they are doing a good job
