ESS actually makes a supercharger kit for the n52 engine that puts out roughly 7 psi which isn’t a lot but it is something to get you to around 300 horsepower

High flow injectors are a waste of time on an NA engine unless you really start to run out of injector duty during a re-map which I highly doubt will be the case here.

Questions : 1)how do I know if the Vanos sensors are not in optional shape? 2) As i understand it one can't simply remove cat. converter because there are sensors tied to it and will make the car not function correctly if it is removed. Is that true? 3) how do I know if my 07 E85 Z4 3.0si has a 3 stage intake? 4) i didn't catch the name of the valves in the intake you suggested to change.

answers in my opinion 1) your car will run like absolute shit 2) no sensors are tied to the secondary’s but yes there are ones tied with the primary so when u put new ones in you tune that code out and the tune will open up the intake manifold it comes with and push because of the headers 3) you can probably just look it up on google

I want to decat, remove egr and dpf on my N57 but I also want o be able to put it back to stock easily enough - maybe something you could do a video on? Im worried the cats have and dpf have to be cut out?

You can get the EGR switched off via software and install a downpipe but downpipe is awkward to install and I wouldn’t want to keep removing it

This video really needs a re-do. The aftermarket replacement air filter(BMC or similar) and the Mishimoto intake pipe are good ideas, but the rest of it not so much. The injectors won't be maxed out on a naturally-aspirated N52, so there's no point in replacing them unless you're running E85. Removing the primary cats in the exhaust manifold will be difficult, and will require spacers or a retune to avoid issues with the second set of oxygen sensors. Likewise, finding headers that will work on a RHD N52 is quite difficult. You're better off leaving the stock exhaust manifold(which is pretty much headers anyway), deleting the secondary cats, and fitting a 135i back box. There are no oxygen sensors after the secondary cats, so that won't be an issue, and the 135i back box is much less restrictive than the one you have. If you look at photos of them both cut apart, you will see what I mean. The 135i has basically a straight-through muffler design. You also forgot to mention MILVS(Modified Intake Lift Valvetronic Supports). They are relatively easy to fit, and give you an extra 1mm of lift and 2° or 3° more duration, similar to the effect of a mild cam upgrade. Overall, those mods combined with a tune should get you over 280hp, although trying to get over 300hp from a naturally-aspirated N52 is not a good idea for most applications. That is because you would need to replace the 3-stage intake manifold with the single-stage manifold from an N54. One of the N52's biggest strengths is its strong performance throughout the rev range. Compromising low and mid-range torque to gain top end power doesn't suit the engine's design, and won't benefit most people. If you want that kind of power delivery, just get something with an S54 instead.

The mishimoto pipe you have replaced, the old one that had another channel going to the cabin, what happens to that now with the new pipe?

That is just for transmitting intake sound to the cabin, but it serves no functional purpose. It's fine to delete that.

An exhaust and remap won't get you 300bhp. Not anywhere close. There aren't many many gains to be had on the N52 without extensive modifications. If your K&N is oiled, I would suggested you remove it and clean your MAF as the K&N filters (oiled) are known for killing them and fit just the BMWP air filter which is an un oiled K&N. Bigger injectors are not necessary for any NA mods because they will not be running at 100% duty cycle. Have a look into what others have done with this engine, N54 manifold swaps for example. The only way to 300hp is to increase the rev limit and the standard manifold becomes restrictive once you do that because of the DISA valves. There's plenty of info out there. I've owned a 130i myself and they are what they are power wise, very little point in trying to squeeze more out of them because it's very expensive and the gains are so small.

20-30hp gain just from remap. BMW don't recommend trying to go over 350hp anyway - the block is designed to take 450hp max.

Dont't eff around with the exhaust between the cats and the middle box , BMW have tuned those 2 pipes to give correct timing of exhaust pulses from front and rear banks where they merge in the entry of the middle box - measure the diameters of those 2 pipes along thier length if you don't believe it.

I would delete the secondary cats and fit a 135i back box, but leave the primary cats. It's pretty hard to find headers that will work on a RHD N52 anyway.

And also I’m trying to go for 290 to 300 hp do you think if I did a secondary cat delete and muffler delete with headers and a stage 3 intake with a cold air intake I would be able to make 300 hp out of my n52?

Best mod is put a manual in it, and increase the valvetronic lift (cheap full-range hp gain) with shims.

If you have the n52 2.5l engine (port injected, before 2nd half of 2007) then you already have one. On n53 (direct injected 2nd half of 2007 onwards) instead of 2.5 liter they used the same engine as 30i but without the fancy manifold and detuned. Apparently you can get it back up to 250ish bhp with just the tune alone and to the 30i power or slightly more with the 3 stage manifold.

Hi mate, thanks for the info. I have a 56 plate 325i 2.5l with the 3 stage manifold. What kind of specific tune do i need to get 250hp? Is it a 330i tune? Will the fact that I have a 2.5l rather than the 3.0l engine be an issue. Please advise. Many thanks

@@tufan.t.t3816 driveability of a smaller turbo will be better but puts a lot more pressure on the connecting rods. A big turbo is safer for turbo conversion builds

N52 is not good with a turbo. Low boost supercharger, sure. Anything over 450hp and you'll have a rod out the side.

350 is factory recommended maximum. Get an N55 or B58 for boost. S58 for 1000+ HP.
