Mark, tears are literally falling down my face. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU!!! One day my moonroof was working properly and less than 24 hours later, it wasn’t. With so much disappointment going on in my life at the moment, natural sunlight helps to brighten my day so a non-operable moonroof was not going to work well for me at all. I started to panic with the dread of going to a BMW dealership and run the risk of being taken advantage of because I’m a single woman who knows very little about cars. For some odd reason, I decided to do an internet search to try to find a fix. Your video popped up and I watched it. Your instructions were SUPER easy to follow and showing the inside of the vehicle WHILE talking through the steps was GENIUS!!! I cannot thank you enough for being a blessing to me. I have subscribed to your channel and wish I could buy you a coffee or tea!! Not all heroes wear capes…some make KZbin videos. Once again, THANK YOU!!

My 2016 BMW x5 sunroof would try to open, but returned to the closed position. You saved me $200 in diagnostics fees at the dealership. I first tried your reset, but it didn't work the first time. I ended up having to switch off the car and locking it from the outside. Then I went back and unlocked it and tried the reset again, and it worked as a charm. Thank-you very much.

Mine only tilts up too , but I tried the process and it will stop almost the end of closing the shade and won’t let me go through the whole reset

I hadn't used my sunroof in a couple of years and while selling the car, I noticed it was not working at all. Thought it had a bad motor or switch or something else expensive until I saw this video. Mark Thank You for this. My Panoramic Sunroof Sunshade (2014 550i GT FO7) wouldn’t close all the way, it remained about 1/2” from a fully closed position. This outlined procedure solved the problem, and now my Sunshade closes completely, just as it should. You saved me $80, which is what a local BMW coding guy would have charged me……

Just wanted to say I saved 500 bucks on a used 535xi because of a sunroof error during the test drive, where I was ok with dropping the price to solve myself. Well, I just reinitialized and it's perfect! I had to have the car running though, the button was not responding until then. Easy fix!

Also, I have to press back and hold it if I want the sunroof to work. Earlier it was just the touch of a button. I got 2008 Bmw X5 RHD.

That depends on what is wrong with the roof but it is definitely where I would start. Have a look at my other videos about sunroofs. It will show where the manual unwind place is etc.

I did the procedure and everything went as you mention. Except, after doing the procedure, One touch Automatic Open or Close does not work!! I have to keep my finger on the button as if it is opened manually instead of the usual one touch open one touch close one push Tilt.... Any suggestion?? Thank you.

Have a look at this video. BMW 🔵 or MINI Sun Roof Fix. Motor location and how to manually close Switch repair replace&position kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3_dkqmDnb6ij7c Once you locate the manual operation key. You can see if the motor or tracks are jammed or what is going on. MRT

My windows were not lying flat when closed and this sorted it. The key bit of information for me was to turn on ignition but NOT to start it, and also be patient for about 20 seconds or so after pressing the button. I don't know why this remedy is not in the manual.
