This is the 2021 BMW R Nine T Urban GS (40 Years Edition) that I have now had for a year and ridden it for 1500 miles in all conditions. This concise reviews gives my opinions on the bike, the style, the accessories, handling etc etc. Bit of a factual one this but I don't focus on the specs as Google can handle that for you, this is about the feelings on the bike...

Picked up a new R ninet Urban GS 40th that was still sitting at my local dealer almost three weeks ago. (50mi on her) Love it! Ordered the same engine bars you have along with the rear fender / taillight, rear rack and solo seat all from Wunderlich.

I have had two GS’s and two R9T’s, so know exactly what you mean about having a more manageable bike for the shorter trips. I’ve done the same again this time going from a Tiger 900 to a Scrambler 900. Can’t say I like the ‘look at me’ colour, but the engine and gearbox are a peach. Good review and look forward to more videos.

Good info, I've a 2019 GS sporting 47,000 miles ( not been home much), but can't justify cost of new one. I've therefore been looking at this or the scrambler, so very helpful, thanks.

i was between the two, no reason I went for this over the Scrambler other than it catching my eye…

I find the Scrambler more comfortable than my previous R9T, from a seating position and bum fatigue 😮 Best to test ride both and see how you get on.

Love the look of your bike , I have a V85tt , as you did , bmw looks a bit smaller ? What are your thoughts about the two bikes ? Greetings from Holland
@andybcole

Loved the V85TT which is a much better touring bike but got annoyed by MG themselves who wouldn't replace a £15 part under warranty even though it was a known fault. R9T is definitely smaller and lower.

Maxton for your rear shock Andy. That’ll give you a good ride.

Hi. I own the same bike, and love it. I am planning on some 3/4 day touring with my wife, but I think the original seat will not be very comfortable for her. I was wondering about the wunderlich confort one, but you didn’t find it a big confort upgrade, did you? As for the luggage, maybe a right side and a tank bag will do it. What model is fitted on your bike? One last question, what model is your motor protection? Thanks. PS- nice guitars 👍

I sold the comfort seat - I didn't find it added any comfort at all and ended up keeping the original one! I was using the SW Motech Legend gear - good stuff and looks the part. I also had the SYSBAG WP system which fits on the same SLC side carrier for the longer trips where I needed more space and better waterproofing 🙂

Now then pal, im a gsa rider and im think of get a bmw urban gs 40th anniversary because of the limited numbers, but do you know how many bmw urban gs 40th anniversary were sold in the uk?
@andybcole

Not a number I think they publish, not even sure they've published how many were made and where they were distributed to. Just had a quick look around though and I can't see a single one for sale in the UK which is encouraging 🙂

I'm all for less is sometimes more, especially when it comes to electronics out of warranty. You threw me right at the end. So no more European trips 😞 - I've read your response to another similar comment. I think I'd sell the dogs! 😱😉

I'm seriously thinking about one of these but at 5ft 6 the seat height seems a bit to high for me
@andybcole
@andybcole 4 ай бұрын
I think you should be fine, they are much lower than a standard GS, you need to try and sit on one as a tester!

@andybcole the one I'm looking at is a 2017 bike but way down south so I'm gonna pop to my local bmw dealer tomorrow and sit or at least try and sit on a hew one

If ever posing a bike for shots point both wheels in the same direction. Particularly as you arent locking the steering and walking away. It works wonders

So, no European trips planned for the future? 🙁 I can''t picture your camping / touring gear loaded on the R9T .....OK for a Sunday ride, but to be honest I'd rather take my 1985 Honda 500 on a 'proper' tour...😈
