Thank you for the info. Haynes manual said not to do this repair yourself, but thanks to this video I managed to get my worn bearing (+140.000 km, so not to bad) out. Now I hope I can replace it and enjoy riding this bike many more kilometers

awsome job .rebuilding my 09gsa rear end now 160 klm just in time , had to make the tool as well used a 15/8 deep socket and 1/4 key stock welded around it to create a 10 point ,Thanks again ,There a great bike to work on .Had to replace the trany main shaft as well .

I love the method you use to take apart the final drive you almost did all with a hammer and banging the hall thing on the table.

the chalage is to make work it with what you have. is much esier if you have industrial equipment on hands.

Where did you find the key with the ten teeth to extract the final differential? I can't find it in bmw, could you tell me how you got it?

Tis was laser cut plate 5mm thick and welded to the old 24mm socket . it could be machined on the mill if you have the access BMW special tool cost about 180 pounds it can be found in the parts catalogue.

Sorry, but what is the need of that pin if we don´t have to take it out to replace the bearings? Won´t spoil the new bearings when inserting to the correct place with the pin lock there?

I am asking because I am just to replace that needle bearings and the axial bearings of the final drive of my r1200gs adventure, and I am with problems to remove that pin.

O ESPECIALISTA GENERALISTA I found out hard way ! This pin acts like spring loaded retainer and goes in to the grove 0.1mm and when the bearing is forced out pin has enough space to move out of the way ... God luck with your project !
