Really love /2s !! So different than anything else of it's time. BMWs are the most reliable motorcycles (EVER).!!!!!!!!! Been looking for a R50S here in the States. Very Rare. Congratulations! A pint for you my English brother!🤘🤠🤘

Nice BMW. Remember them going down the highway back in the day. Folks did travel on these bikes! A rich mans bike I think in the day!

I had a 1962 R 50 in 1967, it had a few S bits on. Cruise at 80 all day on cheap petrol. A bike that put you on your best behaviour.

This is a a 1955. It shouldn’t say 1957. I’m presuming it to be pretty much identical to yours. Rare as hens teeth now. Yeah definitely on your best behaviour riding one of these

Tell her she fits it just fine. :) We should all be so lucky to have a nice looking passenger.

Wow beautiful original bike, you see lots of BMW's R's converted to café racers but much much nicer to have one as original as yours.

Thanks for posting this fun video of your ride. You're so fortunate to find this classic in such great condition. Beautiful bike, beautiful girl, and two out of three ain't bad at all.

They definitely go through coils. They will run forever, if you don't want to get anywhere. They barely get out of their own way. But they are a work of art!

Beatiful bike, don´t understand why it has an ammeter since it´s got a green and red light on the headlamp, and if it´s equipped with the original starting magneto which I think it is since you use the push in key to start it, it will always start even with a drained battery, which is only for lights and horn, and you will always have lights and horn even with a dead battery, although they will be we dimmer. In fact, the ignition system and the lights system each one has its own and separate wiring. And yes you were very luckyu to find one for sale. Had a 1955 R69 for 31 years, had to sell it, I´ve tried to buy it back but been unlucky.

Great beemer. No mirrors always looks odd. No, I wouldn't bother about it if it was bike either. Thanks for the vlog.

Great video. Those mufflers look a lot like a set I have. Mine were made by Overlander, Bushfield Victoria, Australia. Australia

I had the same 1972 as may first street legal bike. She was already 18 years old back then, which was a crazy age in Honda times. Till today i do not know any bike with such a full sound ( Like a Lanz Bulldog, check that out) without making crazy noise. Not a single repair until i sold her for something faster.

You can set the levers at the back dampeners to forward position for riding with load ;-)

A BMW work of art. That Z1 would have looked fantastic with wired rims.

Lovely bike Tim, the nicest at that bike meet I reckon. Any youngsters there ask you how many "riding modes" it has?!

Lovely bike The cable attached to the rear brake then going into air cleaner is probably a n engine brake.! Useful on long hills I would imagine. What it does is strangle the air intake into the cylinders.

I read once that Steve Jobs owned an R60 and had it in the lobby of Apple when they started up as a reminder of the level of quality they should aspire to. (Maybe it was just an excuse to keep it inside to look at).

I didn’t know that. Great bikes thanks

Back then he had a motorcycle with a sidecar too. There is a picture of my grandma in it. Hard to tell what kind it was. Don’t know if they rode to Southport or took the train. That was 1922.

Hi Tim, hope you're well! I was wondering whether you could help me, as we have inherited a 1957 R50 from my Grandad and we are struggling to get an honest valuation. It was his pride and joy, and we want to make sure we get a fair amount for it! If you have a spare moment, would you please send me a message so we can discuss privately? Thank you in advance!
