Good video. Thank you. Just wondering why the bendix contacts weren't replaced while the starter was out? Cheap and easy job after all the efforts to get the starter out.

Great video Thankyou! What is the total length of extensions needed to remove the two Torx Bolts from underneath & do you think that 3/8" drive is suitable for cracking the bolts free? Thanks

I still use 3/8 but with an adapter for 1/2 on the drive part. The total length of the extensions used is 82cm.

Hello again@@JHAMS.001-car-repair , do I need to disconnect any coolant hoses to remove the Starter? It's unbolted, loose and disconnected from leads but there doesn't seem to be enough space to wriggle it out...TIA

I removed 2 screws holding starter from upstairs You just need flat E12. It goes easy.

Are there any other parts that could be changed while doing this job? I don't want to get the intake manifold out once again.

there are also the carbon plate and the bushings, but they don't fall so easily.

Do you know what the squeak sound is when you trying to start?

My M47 engine keeps same sounds and is only hard to start when engine is hot, but with cold engine turns normally on. i have changed Throttle, MAF sensor, Crankshaft sensor only faulty codes left is glowplugs in each cylinder but i dont think changing those helps at all.

You can have the same problem, when warm due to the expansion the bendix can slip, replace it is not too expensive, about 50 euros, the labor for replacement differs from service to service.

What was the size of the bottom torx? the upper one was E12 for me but my E12 socket does not seem to fit the bottom one

Maybe someone tried to use a hexagonal socket wrench and damaged the entry, try tapping the key gently until it enters.

Found out it was actually an E14, previous owner used the wrong bolt I guess. Very glad it wasn't stripped
