BMW's recent concept cars have been extreme, eliciting strong reactions from anyone who saw them. But that is pretty much the point of concept cars. Through its history BMW has made some incredible concept machines, all eliciting those kinds of reactions. Some have showcased new BMW design, some new concepts for cars, and some have just been downright weird.
These are our favourites. From the car that foreshadowed the 8 Series and M1 to the first car with radar guiding braking systems.

As someone who's favorite period of automotive design aesthetic (for whatever ungodly reason) runs from the early 1970s to the early 1990s, I can genuinely say that I've never, in my life, wanted a concept car more than the E25 Turbo. I absolutely LOVE all the bleeding edge tech that car companies tried to shove into the cars of the era. (Even though none of it works anymore) The cockpit of the E25 is an amazing example of just that, especially all the instrumentation.

The Z1 Coupe Concept looks very like the Z3 Coupe. From the front, the Nazca C2 looks like a McLaren F1 Roadcar.

The only one for me was the predecessor of the BMW M1, were as everything Inc the tupperware convertible in the paper shredder. If had brought any of them it would be the one I chose oh and 2002 turbo.

At 4:11 - "If you've ever wondered why the Z1 has such weird doors..." and then the video never says why ! As I remember hearing it, it was inspired by the designer's uncle's Lotus / Caterham 7 and his ability to stub out a cigarette on the road at traffic lights.

Weird that everyone bought into the marketing of kidney grill. They look like nostrils. The M line are like the nostrils of a pig. There you go. You'll never not see nostrils again when looking at every single beamer.
