What’s upgraded to this build compared to a standard S54?

Excellent video, sir! Even though I am in the midwest USA, and my Spanish speaking is quite poor, this series to rebuilding the S54B32 is GOLD! I'm in the process of re-assembling my S54 right now, I have the main line converted to ARP studs, torqued down. I'm now assembling my JE FSR 11.5:1 pistons with Molnar 4340 H-beam con rods w/ ARP bolts, using King Racing XP series main and rod bearings, JE cut ring head gasket, hope to supercharge her down the road... I'm following along your videos to ensure I'm following the process correctly. Thanks again for an amazing video series on how to rebuild the S54 motor; such a legendary piece of machinery, BMW will never make another inline 6 motor like this ever again!

Hello! Very nice! Just some info... I’ve had really bad experience with Molnar rods, they are not really a good set of rods, for the price, I would recommend SP components from VAC Motorsports, they are just a couple of hundred more than Molnar, but your engine will be thankful..... even Stock rods are far better, believe me! Hoping you can build your engine good! If you have any questions and I can help, shout it out! Best,

@@saidsabamusic Thanks for the fast reply! So.. I'm worried now, given you said you had a bad experience with Molnar rods. Can you go into detail what about them you had issues with? From my research, these have been quality rods in the industry for quite some time. I've seen issues with K1 technologies rods, which used to be owned by Tom Molnar, but has been under different management/ownership for a number of years now. I had the rods in the machine shop when my machinist skimmed the cylinder head, bored the block to 87.5mm, honed with plateau brushing and using a torque plate. The crankshaft was polished and balanced. The rod and main bearings were checked for proper oil clearance. My machinist never commented that the rods were bent or bad out of the box, so I'm just wondering what in particular was bad about them. I've been told that, because the S54 is a high revving motor, some folks opt to use I-Beam rods instead of H-Beam, but my research tells me that you can design even H-beam rods for high RPM no problem. My rod part number is BMWH5472KEB6-A using ARP2000 bolts. It's saddening to me, because I was under the impression that these 4340 H-beam rods would be stronger than the stock cast rods. Anyway, really anxious to hear about your Molnar rods experience in detail! Thanks again for your fast reply in English, I've subscribed to your channel :)

@@fiatlux4265 hahaha now I'm sweating as well. My engine is almost put back together with molnar rods. I couldn't find anything bad about them though and they were all within 2 grams between the lightest and heaviest. The stock rods held over 800 whp so they better hold up.
@fiatlux42654 жыл бұрын
@@m3ntal799 I think we will be fine. I've asked around on forums and everyone that's used them specifically in the S54 have no complaints. I wont be trying to put 1000hp on them, just maybe up to 500 crank max when supercharger is installed down the road. Mine were within 2g between each other also, although I technically didnt use a rod balancer tool to weigh them, I jimmy rigged one lol. My machinist made no complaints about the rods when I brought them in with my pistons, bearings, etc along with the block and crank. Here's hoping to the best for us I guess.. was hoping I'd get a reply back on why they were a problem for this guy!

Don’t be scared... maybe I got a bad batch, rods looked great; spec’d great, fit great, but went boom with a stock OEM engine. It happened to me, so no more Molnar for this baby

Such a great video of the building of the S54. I'm trying to pick apart what he's saying from the very little Spanish I've heard in certain movies and things but all I really get is a few words here and there. I do see what he's doing but any good advice on how he's doing it all is lost to me. Sigh... Oh well.

excelente video, queria preguntarte si este motor mantiene el VANOS o si se lo sacaron y por que motivo. tambien si podes comentar que eje de levas tiene, duracion y apertura. muchas gracias.
@saidsabamusic5 жыл бұрын
Hola!, si, mantenemos el VANOS, y en la parte 3 del video explicaremos como se instala. Sobre los ejes, la admisión es de 288 y el escape de 280, y la alzada es de 12.5 mm saludos

with a 12.5-1 compression 3.3 motor w. cams and supporting bolt ons how much power could be achieved with E85 and proper tuning (AEM infinity standalone ecu)?

Hey, I believe that’s a question for Mr Frank Smith at Tuning Tech FS
