Some shops charge a ridiculous amount of money for this. I did go to one, just shopping for a new back tire, and they guy must have known I was frugal, so he said that he would mount and balance it for free if I bought the tire. He saw what I was riding (K1100LT) and I put it on it's center stand, took out the 4 wheel bolts, and they had the wheel. That easy. Simplicity often has value beyond what we are immediately aware of.

Before my next tire change I plan on getting one of those bead breakers. I'm sure Beemer Boneyard will fix me right up. Maybe I'd be better off getting one from the local BMW shop......but I live near you and there is no local BMW shop. ...so Beemer Boneyard it is! Thanks Chris....It's good to finally see some repair footage. As the Dead sang, "What a long strange trip it's been!" Keep 'em coming!

Cool! Do you know how many miles rear tire last on these BMW’s? I know is a very broad question because of the different tire compounds, driving styles, conditions, etc… but on average.

This is completely off the topic of tires, but those that are interested to replacing the heating element wire in the heated grips should read this: BMW Service - Heated Grip Repair by Chris Harris kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHO7Y6SNfct7fsU To replace the heating element wire completely: Use Nichrome 80 26 Gauge AWG Round Wire 25ft Roll .40mm , 2.657 Ohms/ft Resistance Here is why: Total Length of Heating Wire = 44.8 inches. Total Resistance = 8.5 ohms (measure from end of lead wires) Ohms per Foot of Heating Wire = 8.5 ohms * 12 / 43.8 inches = 2.329 Ohms per foot. Note: Use Ohm meter to get the exact length to get 8.5 ohms Assuming a battery voltage of 13V: I = 13V / 8.5 ohms = 1.529 Amps. Power = 13V * 1.529 A = 19.882 Watts. Both grips in parallel would drain: 2 * 1.529 Amps = 3.058 Amps. If you see anything wrong, let me know

Ha! That's clever as fuck. Being blessed with a tire changing machine, I would've never thought of that. But there's always next trip to Morocco, so thanks!
@ChrisR.Harris5 жыл бұрын
Much less expensive than the tire machine which does not work without air or electricity unlike my new cave man model ;)
