Great stuff, the video is still accurate and extreamly useful. I just fixed mine. Thank you very much.

When replacing the tensioner on the right side, is it necessary to relieve the chain by turning the crankshaft? Can it be done in any position? I'm going to replace the right tensioner on a 2007 R1200 (air) on the right cylinder, but I don't want to take the drop frame apart, remove the spark plugs and set the engine into position unless it's really necessary...? Thanks for the verified advice.

My last motorcycle was the same BMW K1200RS, 2004. In 5 years of operation I drove 60,000 km on it, there were no breakdowns, only at 100,000 km I changed the clutch disc. Now I bought a BMW K 1300 GT 2009. from Russia with love )!

Great watching you work, Chris. I have owned 3 air heads in the past and now have a couple of oil heads and trying to figure out if I like them or not. We'll see. Thanks.

Great video Chris! Now I know why my 2005 r1200gs has tha exact rattle pinging around 4000 rpm at acceleration. I'm not going to ride it until I replace the tensioner. It only has 17,000 miles hope the guide is not damaged. Thanks again you may have saved me an expensive headache.

How do you know the HiFlow filter is better than the BMW filter? Where's the specs that demonstrate which is actually better? I've never had a rusty or dented BMW filter, and if I did it would be handed right back to the parts rep... No comment about riding the bike for at least 30-minutes to bring the oil to operating temperature and bring the contaminant particles into suspension? I find the oil filter is easier to remove when warm. Also, what about pre-charging the oil filter with fresh oil before installing? As far as which oil to use, I've always used Castrol full synthetic 5W50, and after 165,000 trouble-free kilometers on my R-1150-RS I've never had any issues with leaks. Runs like new, and the valves almost never need adjusting.
