The 2019 subs have a much stronger glue holding them to the enclosure than shown in this video. It took me 90 minutes to remove each one of them using a plastic trim removal tool and two screw drivers at the same time, and I still broke the plastic frame on one of the subs. If I'd had any idea what was involved I would have bought a pair of enclosures from BMW. Also, you need a drill with a 5/16" bit to drill holes in the enclosures for mounting screws, a magnet to remove the bolts holding the enclosures to the floor, and needle nosed pliers to put those bolts back.

Dewayne Hughes I have a 2019 also and it was a bitch to get out of the enclosure. Would’ve gladly bought new enclosures for the Bavsounds.

Thanks for the video! I removed the speaker housings and didn't know wtf I was going to do to get the speakers out, I was considering going to a junk yard and buying a housing from another 2018 X3 G01 body style but don't expect there will be to many or those around. I watched your hammer work a couple of times and then tried it (with a 4 lbs. hammer) and it came right out. As soon as you hear that distinctive 'crack' you know it'll come off the housing then I repeated the process on the other side and got the new speakers installed. Thanks again, you saved me $250 on the install of the two woofers and they sound about 25-30% better than the BMW ones.

Just did this on my 2019. The subs DO NOT "pop out" like that. First off, there are not 2 tabs in the 2019, there are at least 5 -- 2 big ones like in the video, and several others that are smaller and tucked behind the lip of the enclosure, making getting to them simultaneously impossible. Secondly, there is a TON of glue now, essentially welding the sub to the enclosure. It took me nearly 90mins to remove the subs. I nearly gave up halfway through the first one. It was impossible to pry out the sub via the side like the video shows (I tried and ended up putting a 1" HOLE in the enclosure), so I finally accomplished by 1) prying the top cover of the sub off itself, 2) taking a hammer to the bottom half of sub, destroying it, 3) prying each remaining piece of sub from the inside out. 4) filing down the remaining parts, as again, the amount of glue basically welds the pieces together. NOT a job for the faint of heart, and NOT REVERSIBLE.

All that said, love my bavsound setup! Really high quality, great presentation, materials. They can't help it that BMW made the dumbest sub enclosure of all time.

Same issue, I just got done installing these and it would’ve taken hours less if I just bought an extra set of enclosures from BMW

Oh dear this was a pain. Did the passenger side, and mine didn't go nearly as smoothly as depicted in the video. The factory sub's backplate kept cracking as I tried to lift it out. I had to heat the thing up with a blowdryer to finally get some movement towards getting the two parts separated.

No part of this video shows you how to remove the front seat and extract the sub. Wtf.

This video is no longer correct. These are not the screws that come with the subs. I drilled the holes and the screws you sent just spin loosley in the holes.

I gave up after trying to install them on my 2019 330xi. I had them in my 2016 and it was so much easier as there was no glue. Anyone know how to find a replacement speaker housing (w/out sub) on-line? Might be easier to buy the housing (if cheap) and just drop them in from there.

Unfortunately the edge you were showing where to place the screwdriver is solid black in the video. I'm sure it's obvious in person but you can't see it in the video.
