So grateful for finding this video bro. Just bought a 2008 320i e90. The sunroof would tilt up but not open. Held the button and at about 1:30 into holding it the sunroof went through a full cycle and now works perfectly.

God bless man i got a 7 series redid my head liner and cleaned the drains and sunroof wasnt moving thaught the motor was done and this was all i needed

It was good enough to get mine to close, it was stuck open. But I think it has some electrical issue because I need to keep tapping the button because it only moves an inch at a time

Try it again if it doesnt then you should disconnect battery for 15 and do it again if not then motor might be smoked

Shade is probably stuck while trying to fix try to let it lose? If it was your shade that messed up the sunroof maybe it burnt out the motor trying to close it many times
