Excellent review. I saw this video many months back and finally pulled the trigger and purchased a 2004 R1200 CLC. I am a 59 year old man and never rode a street bike so I will be taking a full Riders class and practicing before I have my wife on the back. Safety First! Stay healthy out there and really enjoyed how the review flowed, did not appear to be scripted or practiced over and over. Just an honest from the heart observation. You sold me.

I've had mine almost 3 years now (2004 6spd) aside from changing brake and clutch fluid every year, the only other pain about it is keeping it clean. But man, i swear that thing hovers off the ground in 6th gear. It is sublime. Feels even more balanced loaded down and or with a passenger. Handles better in the rain than my camry does, and outbrakes most things on the road, dry or wet. Starts great, plenty of power if you know where to find it. Probably the greatest success in my vehicle purchasing record lol.

I bought a 2003 R1200CLC a few months ago, and I love it! Rides great, very comfortable, plenty of power. I had a Yamaha Venture years ago, and this is light years beyond it. The brakes are amazing!

I owned that year and color BMW. Purchased it in 2003. Kept it 3 years and put 45,000 miles on that bike. I lived in Michigan and was fortunate enough to live just 3 miles from the dealership of purchase. The M shaped windshield and the cd player in the side bag were other nice features at the time. Brought back great memories. Thanks

Thanks for owning a shop, taking time to make vids for youtube and for your customers, and riding all these bikes. There is literally anything else you could be doing as a shop owner that needs to buy bikes but you put this all out. I am also not a practicing christian or religious, and I freekin dig the words of wisdom.

I just picked up an amazing looking 2004 BMW R1200CLC in VERY good condition, 18,000 miles and lightly ridden on the weekends. Had been sitting up, the guy was unable to ride it anymore. I am looking forward to putting some miles on it this upcoming year!

BMW boxer engines aren't "buzzy", it's more of a "thrum"....the engine lets you know it's there but it's not bothersome. The R1200CL/CLC bikes are great, I've enjoyed over 40k miles on mine with no issues. Job 28:28

These bikes were such an odd ball but were a great machine. They were available at the same time as the K1200LT for only a couple years if I remember correctly. It was apples and oranges, similar to the Valkyrie Interstate and the Goldwing in 2000. That windshield needs some love.

T totally disagree with your review; having owned a R1200cl for 14 years and riding it 70000 miles mostly two up touring coast to coast 3 times. Top speed for this bike is 100 mph with a tail wind, however I always found it unstable and vibe. But it would cruise comfortably all day at 70 - 75. Commercially it was a an embarrassing flop for BMW in the American cruiser market; most owners quickly dealt them at a loss. BMW re-entered the cruiser market in 2021 with the R18. I still own my R12100CL in 2020; having converted it to a bobber; to many good memories not to give it a forever home.

The warning light with the triangle is a low fuel indicator, on my RT it had a bad fuel strip so it was on all the time and I used trip meter for fuel consumption.

Two years too late but in case it happens again it could be what pat said or on my r1200c it was that the license plate bulb or tail light was out

Hi Sean, I appreciate your channel and gives an idea about all the bikes. I would think it would be helpful if you can add little description of slow speed handling of all bikes . I own and R1200CL and it rides great at speeds above 20 mph but slow speeds could be challenging to intermediate rider due fairings attached forks .

Had a chance to buy a bike just like the one you were test riding back in 2003. It was at the Gateway BMW MOTORCYCLES of St. Louis. I didn't want to make payments. They got one there now with about 25k on the clock. I may have to trade my Bonneville for it. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Such is life.Take care and be safe. VAUGHN

I found a 1977 Honda CB400a hondamatic for sale for $500.00. It has 8350 miles on it, driving by his wife for commuting to work and looks like it is in great shape. The ad says the igition failed and might have something to do with the CD box. What exactly is the CD box and would it be worth purchasing for someone to is just starting to ride?

The snob factor isn't beholden to any particular brand. Tribal pinheads come in all shapes, sizes and allegiances. There's a reason why you don't see motorcycles parked in front of a therapist's office. Maybe behind, but never in front. Wind therapy is good for the soul. It cannot be overstated.
