My bmw 128i won’t turn on after having a problem with my battery it died and took it to autozone 3 days ago and now it won’t turn on. Thanks for the video helped a lot. Idk how anyone can dislike knowledge?

2.54 that click in the bendix on the starter it isn't pushing the starter gear into contact with the flywheel. Basically it's gone out of position. Sometimes if you can get a stick down into contact with the starter and give it a firm whack with a variable arc swing press ( hammer) [aircraft mechanic humoured lol] it will reset itself and you can get it started but the starter will have to be replaced.

I have a 118i E87 just had a new starter motor put in after my car literally died (dash everything when black) whilst i was driving it. It cranks but wont turn over im thinking it might be the fuse to the fuel pump since the mechanic told me they had to put fuel straight into the motor to start it but they also told me they think its the immobilizer. Would you know which fuse it would be. (I'm Australian if that counts)

I have a 08' 335i. I ended up paying $3,200 for a stereo system and because of that system the battery kept draining and for some reason that led to a new starter being needed. $1,800 dollars later I had a new starter put in and haven't had a problem since.. I know $1,800 dollars for a new starter replacement I basically got done with no Vaseline but the pain goes away with time, a year later I haven't had anymore problems with the 335

One thing to note is your power distribution board could be broke. This can apear like a flat battery. The starter soilinod and motor are on difrent circuits/ fueses.

You know what’s crazy, I was driving my 428i today and at a red light the car went to park mode by itself and the engine didn’t wana turn back on. Not sure if it’s my alternator or starter but I have battery in the car

And ATL SEAN. You most likely have a short somewhere. I would say a module got fried but I would need to know the back story on your car was it running. Is it a daily or just a weekend car. Has it been sitting for months? Did you just purchase the car?

@@lifeofmario9137 So some back story to my car.. I drive it daily but only 5-6K miles a year. I had to get my auxiliary fan replace/ also I changed my oil gasket and engine decreased.. as well as a new alternator and compressor. I got it back from the shop for some odd reason I felt the drive a bit off like stalling in a way, very tiny bit. It was just not the same way as I had it before I gave it to that shop. Another side note for some odd reason when I was driving on D, the car switched me back to neutral and wouldn’t let me switch back to drive until I pressed the start up engine then it did let me move the car.. I called the shop took it back they test drove it nothing happen it didn’t slip to neutral.. a day after going to work as I was sitting on a red light my car just went haywire again putting my transmission into park by itself and the engine turning off not letting me move it to neutral or any gear . (Automatic) That’s when it didn’t let me crank it or no response had to get a tow truck back to the shop 🤦🏻 Two messages showed up on the dash. “Starter/Ignition malfunction” and “Battery discharged, start engine” I really don’t know what it could be unless some codes are wrong , a bad alternator or my startup went dead. When the tow guy tried to jumpstart me no response from the engine. Wish me luck smh 🤦🏻 53K miles on it just paid it off too I really didn’t wana get a new car again

Hey man I did everything you said I’m getting power to the start with testing the wire to make sure I’m getting power I put a “new” duralast starter on it it cranked over one time and then dead after that I bench tested it and worked could I have a bad connection or just a bad starter that took a shit from the get go

I just picked up a 1998 540IM sport it’s got a wire hanging out of what looks like the valve cover gaskets I think it’s a ground wire not sure but when I put the battery in the car, it’s fully charged all the lights turn on, but nothing happensany ideas?

I’m hoping to god it’s the starter, just removed my old starter, changed sparked plugs and ignition coils and new battery. Just waiting on new starter to be delivered tomorrow so I can install it 🤞…. Yo appreciate the video I made video of doing the starter yesterday took me about 45 minutes to do haven't uploaded it yet but will to help people out,but my car was doing something, I was at auto store I put new battery in and same thing happened click,but when I jump it it will start no problem, so I had them come out and check battery and while it was still connected it said battery no good! Mind you we just put new one in,so the guy grabbed another battery and said I tested it before he bought it out,so I put it in and something click,so I jump with my box no problem, go get the guy and can't find him so I said fuk it left,I ordered starter used oem put it in lastnight and same dam thing click,jump it and no problem I also noticed that my low beams stopped working everything checks out. I'm in a strange situation what's the odds no good battery but reads 12 and what's the odds starter no good,I will say when I install it and tried to start it it actually started up but only once after that back to clicking. At a loss right now any ideas bro appreciate it

Forgot about ews. It's common. Also bad regulator in altenator will cause no start sometime even voltage spike and take out the bsd generator in the dme that will cause a no start also. Bad grounds too. Many things that will cause a no start. And you can have power at starter and it still not work. Dme controls all. Mine voltage spiked and took out the ews and bsd generator in dme. Sometimes you even get the wires in the harness to ews come loose. Seen that befor too. As I said many things with these cars will cause a no start. I can list more lol

So I just left a comment to this to what happened with mine and still going on new battery and starter and still clicking also I put my charger on to check battery and alternator noticed mad spike all over the place but yet charger says good alternator,do you think that could be it alternator? ​@@jtlracer0707check your body electrical ground cables.. replace all of them if you realize you dont have a proper ground or any ground at all. The way test is too use a wire tester and connect one end to the positive terminal of a battery jumper pack or an extra battery and touch the alteernator metal housing with the pointy end of the tester if it lights up then you have good ground if it dont light up at all it means you have no ground and you will have to replace electrical ground body cables. Have you ever had an issue where your car cranks and it wont start just cranks over and over. I thought it was fuel but I pulled the line of on the fuel rail and I have fuel. I pulled all the plugs individually and I have spark. It stalled out on me driving down the road

Yes my exhaust came bolt that holds the gear in snapped luckily no bent valves and a rocker was laying down beside the valve spring

@@paramjotsingh1989 Scan the codes to see if you get an immobilizer code. It might not show as a steady code, could only pop up while cranking like mine did. If you get the code in this manner, then the immobilizer is preventing spark. That can be reset with a scanner such as a Launch x431 or other advanced scanner.

Mine would start when the car is cold. But if I drive it even 2 miles, park and run inside the grocery store. The car would make that click. I come back several hours later, car started right up. I can start the car multiple times in the garage without problems. I had the battery tested and they said, it was a little low (about 11.6v). I always keep the trickle charger on. I just checked my battery and it is around 11.8v. That is still low after coming off the charger. I was curious if yours started when the car has been sitting and only clicked when the car is warm.

Check your relays In the box your starter wire leads to. Follow it back toward the battery somewhere in between there is a loss in power

Yes...it was the 2nd hand starter that I installed, it was also faulty so I got the new one, its all good now.

I disagree with a ton if things you said. If the light where you explained comes on its the starter? No sir. Didnt check ground at all did you? How about voltage drop test from negative battery post to housing of starter or engine block? Also, light coming on there doesn’t 100 percent mean that wire is intact getting to s post on starter. You didnt do a voltage drop test on positive big cable at starter either..

I got you bro. I had pretty much the same issues. So try to jump your car first to see if you can even get it on. Use the two post in the front of your car and connect it to another car or jump box let it sit for 2 minutes and try to start if it doesn’t even try to start that means your starter is dead. If the car goes on. Then it’s the battery. If you haven’t replaced your battery in over 2 or 3 years it’s also time to replace it.

abdul khan sorry to hear that my brother. To me it sounds like your fuel pump went out. It’s common for the fuel pumps to go out on these cars and it sounds that by the way you drive that could be your issue.

This is upsetting. This sounds closer to a short, but start off by jump starting it or if you can charge the battery try that. Remove it take it to Autozone they’ll check the batter and charge it for you for free so does O’reilly

Explore Me I saw an another guys video that the CAS relay goes out. Basically the relay that recognizes your key. When this happens you will not crank or start. In his video wipers came on when he put the key in. Repay is in the fuse box in the glove box top right relay.

It’s like a champagne greyish color. Same inside. I was gonna keep it for myself but just recently the 240 I built for my son got smashed into. So I’m gonna build another 240, turbo it, and keep it for myself. I don’t know if u have the proximity entry, but if you do, when you put your hand on the door to open it, does it sometimes try locking itself again, instead of unlocking? Sometimes mine will do it three times in a row before it finally unlocks.

Your dme and key might of lost sync with each other.you need a diagnostic machine to check further into it

Ok so my car suddenly died on me and i didn’t hear my fuel pump turn on so I pulled it out and saw my pressure regulator came off . But some clamps on and fuel pump back in and hear everything turn on but when I try to start it it just cranks. I got 12 volts when the car is off and 12.6 when I have jumper cables on. It started one time but died right after and then I couldn’t even lock or unlock my car. Btw I tried starting my car about 10 times before disconnecting the battery and replacing the fuel pump

Shit nvm when I replaced my fuel pump the clip broke on the fuel line . It comes disconnected once my car starts. Hope this fixes any issues with anyone
