BMW X1 REVERSE CAMERA INSTALL

Very helpful. I will be starting the same install tonight. Question: once you fished the line from the back hatch, down the side, through the rubber connector thingy, how did you access it once it was in the car (under the rear head liner). You show where it came out in the rear by the side window, but you didn't explain how you got from the hole it entered the roof to where you showed it actually exiting into the car. Thanks!

@@Shrav2112 you just have to pull down the headliner a bit. I got it through the grommet and pulled it out under the headliner then ran it behind the plastic trim pieces.

Did you connect the red power wire to the reverse taillight? If so what color was the power on the x1 reverse wiring?

You could add some double sided tabe to the back end of the camera

I habe an x4 how to open it from the back I mean what tools are required

I am not sure what the x4 has back there but most likely has a couple torx screws (most likely t30-t35) and the rest of it will be clips that you just have to pull to get the panel out. The screws will most likely be in a similar location as it is on the x1. I would suggest getting a torx bit set as it will always come in handy when working on German cars

You connected it to the brake light, not the reverse light. How does the system know how to put the camera on when the car is in reverse?

@@donkskiify the stereo wire that I connected to the red wire provides power the camera that turns it on... Also the car automatically switches to reverse camera when you put the car in reverse notice at the beginning even with no camera it was doing that already.

@@LoniVlogZ My camera only has a power cable that attaches to the reverse light power. Any suggestions on the connection?

@@donkskiify you can extend the wire run it threw the grommet where the other wires are and run it down to the back on the inside where the reverse light is and splice on to the power wire there.

I am not sure what you mean. But you can use GPS with your phone connected for both android and iPhones

Respecteds, I don't think cameras with a 170 degree viewing angle are the right choice. I have the same camera installed on the trunk handle of a bmw f 25 and I am not happy with the view. The camera view is too down and too close and the wide angle is quite confusing. I think normal cameras provide a much better and natural view, at least that's how it was on my former car, a BMW E90. That's some of my experience. Greeting
