BMW hit a grand slam with the lci x3mc. They sorted most of the issues out from the original and improved the already great s58. Before that, the m40i still is what id buy over most. I have owned all variants, and surprisingly never cared for the Macan although it was the very first one in segment I went to drive and test due to its “reviews”. Never thought I’d own/drive a bmw, but the x3mc hit that sweet spot for a daily but came with added nuclear propulsion that just hits different than its competitors, including the Porsche. If I was going with an x4/macan body style and not an actual compact suv, I’d chose the Macan over the x4 on styling - not that I like the frog look more, but the x4 rear is a failure.

What issued did they resolve? The main issue for X3 M is the rear diff bolt and they didn't improve that at all

Based on quarter mile times, engine power, nurburgring times and cost; the X3M wins hands down. The only reason someone would get the Macan is the looks and badge.

I have a 24 X3 and 24 M3 comp. Imo they don't put as much effort into the design of an X3M as they do with the M3. There's a huge difference in body lines with the M3 over the 3 series. Not so much with the X3 and X3M. Wider fenders on the M3 for example make a huge difference over 3 series. The performance is there I just think the execution is a bit lazy for an M car. Still a bad a$$ car but I wouldn't pay $82 for an X3M like I did for the M3.

key has to be in your pocket or in hand, kick moderately and not fast. i’ve shown countless customers how to kick it so it opens first or second try

The exhaust is worse, the interior is very cheap (no wonder, it’s a BMW), the design is poor and nobody with a functioning brain would take this over a Porsche Macan GTS
