I like how BMW acknowledges that a car is going to break down and leaves a towing hook easily reacheable in a left net in a trunk. See, that's German custumer service for you, Italians would never think of that. 😏

I have a X4 2020 model with a 20D. I dont think it’s bad at all. I drive a nice car not for speed, but for the styleee. For a average guy like me, this car is very nice also to drive and financial.

My wife and I test drove a X4 30i and my wife hated the claustrophobic feeling of the back seats. I don’t mind the look but the X3 with the M sport package looks just as nice. After test driving the X4 we drove a M40i X3. She liked that one A-LOT. LOL. Thanks for the entertaining review Marek! I look forward to your reviews every Friday.

40i is the way to go, if you can afford it, but there's no shame in 30i either. How often does your wife travel in the back though?
@kevinn11583 жыл бұрын
@@MarekDrives doesn’t matter how often she sits in the back. LOL. When the boss says something negative, it’s all over. That M40i power is very impressive. Now I have to test the electric cars coming out this fall to see how good they are. Ie ID4 AWD and then IONIQ 5 AWD. The savings on fuel and the government rebate might just make them the best option.

I wanted to say "wait for the winter" and test the cold-weather range, but AFAIR in Canada winter starts around autumn :) Not that I envy you guys (especially when I have to spend 4 hours in a row filming outside), but this season we had about 2-3 weeks of proper frost and snow, and that was it.
@kevinn11583 жыл бұрын
@@MarekDrives LOL. Yah for most of Canada mid fall is winter. Toronto and Especially Vancouver are warm enough that it’s not that bad. But yah, the ID4 and Ioniq 5 won’t be here until October I believe. We own a house and can charge at home and the network is developing quickly. I have to make a call to my friend at BMW because he might be able to get me a really good deal and will make buying an EV mute. Anyways, wife wants me to drive our car into the ground first. They way I see these SACs is that they kind of are disingenuous. It’s a SUV that’s trying to say I’m not a SUV. But you look at the reality and think it’s still big, high off the ground and fat. Stop pretending. And when you look at an Audi A7 or A5 sport back I think, nice flowing lines, and a hatch with more trunk space over a sedan…. Ok that makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for trying to test base and normal models. I know the manufacturers rarely loan those out for test. But, to be honest, when I see yet another review of an M car or AMG or the like, I just skip it- there is nothing new there and I just don’t care.

I found the X5&X6 to be huge next to my little F20 so I thought the X1 or X4 is more suitable for me. I'd buy second hand not new.

I have on my mind a suv coupe before than a "normal" suv because I can need a car with more space to the floor for reasons like the snow, etc. The car is for me, no family, etc. and that's my reason to avoid the normal suv. Enough cargo space and more sporty than a X3 in the case of BMW. But yet I have ten 🔟 months to decide. A long, long, trip until test and buy one. Thanks, and stay at your level

I would actually prefer the xDrive20d over the xDrive20i; you get 9 more horsepower in the diesel.
@MarekDrives3 жыл бұрын
This would be a total dog with 20i. 30i is probably the sweet spot, when choosing a car this size with a petrol engine.

oh my, this thing is slower than my 2009 Volvo V70 2.5 turbo and that has the lethargic Aisin 6 speed auto. I expect more from BMW, even the base model. I do drive my Volvo like I stole it though and usually average 11l/100 km, I can get it down 9.5l/100 km if I am careful, but that is understandable. That being said, I am all for diesels over petrols, especially if you are doing lots of highway driving, which PHEVS are horrible at.

True. I'd probably go with a slightly more powerful diesel though.

@@MarekDrives we are spiritual brothers there Marek, the day when the six pots diesels will be gone will be very sad ones 😢

I'd have this, but in the 30d variant. I'd also like to test de 30i before taking the leap, though I swore I'd never buy a 4-pot again (currently, 520d). 40d and 40i seem unnecessary for me.

Firstly it’s really nice you are testing normal editions of the cars and not like the most expensive version. I am a bit confused and this is why : currently I own a x1 18i with 136Ps front drive and I am really thinking going after in the x4. However petrol and diesel 2l motors are giving a 184 and 190 ps respectively BUT with a much heavier car. So is it worth going for 30 d or 30i where in Greece price are starting from 70-72.000€ ? Taking under consideration that I ll do mostly city - suburbs trips off-road and light off-road and that i do not use the car every day

As many of car manufacturers BMW of corse have their ‘target group’ for these type of cars. BMWs are rather prestige cars, than practical and it is usual that they make such a car. And they are proud of corse because they invented this class vehicle. They’ll keep manufacturing them no matter if they are loosing money of x4 and x6. It’s a matter of prestige🙂 Me personally- i don’t like them. But i do like your reviews! Keep good work💪

Five. The first gen X6 started off as a 4-seater, but they later added a 5-seater option, and finally made it standard (they gave you 5 seats in a mid-size SUV for free! :) )

While I don't dislike the whole coupe-SUV thing, I would rather have a BMW X3 xDrive30i. I know that, all things have beauty in the eye of the beholder, but for me the BMW X4 is just downright ugly.
