BMW X5 e70 ambient light upgrade part 1 (rear Doors)

In This videos I show you guys how to Install Ambient light on your BMW X5 e70. This is an upgrade for car that does not have Ambient lights. This is a time consuming install. the Ambient lights where purchase from Amazon. to connect the lights I used an old connection that the car already had. but you can also use the Windows switch to get power for the ambient light

It's beautiful.... did you disconnect the battery?

I thought about it. but I did not. those cars can be super bipolar, when the battery get disconnected. so I was just super careful. and I used a test light to test my polarity before connecting anything.

I ordered 9 in total. but I only needed 7. i order a few extra just to be safe. just in case one of them does not work.

Such a awesome video. I was wondering since my ambient light on my e70 does not light up with ACC can I still use that line as power source? Also, not sure why but I tried using the window switch for power. I connected red wire from my box to the pink and grey wire on window power, black wire to the brown wire on window power and it did not light up. Not sure if I fried anything in the box but the window was still working? if you can help on the connection it would be much appreciated!

I did this over 3 year ago. I don't remenber the wire colors. but what you should do is first. is at night double check to see if your buttong lights up. since your windows go down that mean it's fine. and you didnt blow a fuse. but the light might be on a diferent fuse. Those care a very sensitive to any changes. if you have a light tester check it out to make sure it you are getting power. from the brown wire. also those lights are very dimmed. so it would be best to check it at night. if that does not work let me know. I can go more in debt.

@@CarStomIt so I check the striplight bulb in all four door panels they do not work whatsoever. Windows go down perfectly fine but im not sure what wire is hot and which is ground. I got a meter and check the wires but I don’t see any voltage? While the windows are working fine. I’m bamboozled to say the least…

@@CarStomItI’m only getting 5V from the ambient lights, not sure if you’re getting 12v from them. Did you test the connections to see if they were 12v?

Yes the one that change colors are not different. But yes it is possible. The installation now a bit different

Those lights are not specific to E70 they can be installed and customized to fit any car.

I used the ambient light connections Thu was in the car already. If the car does not have ambient lights you can use the power cable of the windows switch.

I just check the videos. I used the brown and the pink wire for the rear door. If you have a light tester. You can turn on the car to the auxiliary position and check witch wires has power when the car is in auxiliary mode. Some BMW wires colors might be different depends on the trim. Let me know if that help.
