Yes it fixes your radio when there's no sound. It eliminates the satellite device on the radio . Fixes the problem instantly. They also sell a bypass cable in Amazon.

Does this bypass the affected module?

Hi there, what would be a reason to have to do this? What issues does it solve? I'm having issues with no sounds in my vehicle and just looking for answers, thanks!

I had a rain leak and the water burnt the satellite radio unit. Since all the audio components are on the same circuit, when one of them goes you either have to replace the dead unit, or bypass the audio signal, which I did, as I didn’t care about the satellite radio. Hope this helps.

Where did you get the adapter? Do you have a part number? Thanks!

I got it from my BMW service in Vancouver, BC. I’m not sure about the part number but, I can check the part itself when I get home tonight, and I’ll update you.
