Hi Dave, you are great giving a second life to our cars. I am really excited to see the "Auto dimming interior mirror" tutorial, I tried to look some info but unable to find anything solid. Ignore if is out of your scope but, I will get crazy if can do a tutorial for side mirrors, with blind spot detector or/and auto folding :D

I had some problems with assigning apps to the tiles of the original car launcher (like radio, music etc.) It's much easier to just install a separate car launcher like AGAMA. Very easy to change the setup on the menu.

So long as you have a spare USB from the screen then this will do the job.... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-Radio-Receiver-USB-Radio-Adapter-Tuner-DAB-Aerial-Android-Navigation-UK-/303793607056?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

@@flexanton4275 if you mean the DAB add on, then to be perfectly honest, no. You can use Internet radio via you phone connection, more channels and as long as you've got phone reception then it'll be better. If you mean the screen then yes it's a great bit of kit and I'd still have mine had I not done a full iDrive retrofit. It is a bit expensive to be honest, but that is really down to personal choice .

Dave, we have HD radio in the US; does this adaptor work for my car?

Hi, no sorry this is only for the Android screen to receive DAB radio not HD FM.

@@BMWZ4Mods thanks I just found that out from my Google search as well. Love your videos. Your accent sounds like Nigel Mansell-are you from the same area? Do you have an install video for a front camera?

@@milovan8565 alas no on both counts there. I'm not from the same area as Nigel (I had to look it up 😂) and no I've not fitted a front camera.

Hi, how is the audio quality of DAB channels when your car is moving?
@BMWZ4Mods3 жыл бұрын
The audio is fine, the problem is signal reception. I don't know whether its the positioning of the antenna or the type of antenna being used.

I have a Z4 e89, original radio reception very poor on both fm and am, bought a Kenwood Dab125, modified existing radio slot. The big problem was the Dab signal, Forget stick on screen aerials as the signal is sh#te, the n/s/r wing is double skinned so you cant get to the existing aerial via the wheel arch, the only way was to cut out a hole (in the boot) next to the aerial mount big enough to get a crank spanner at the aerial nut, I cut a slit in the spanner so that the wires would pass through. It was a bit fiddly, i let the old aerial mount fall into the wheel arch and cut the old wiring. Fitted new dab aerial (Eightwood ) passed wires through and refitted the cut out plate and insulated well with silicone. Now the problem I had was again the Dab signal was hit and miss, for day I struggled to find a solution, in the end I temporarily taped an old aerial mast I had in my shed to this Eightwood aerial but fitted it in a way so that it would be slightly higher than the roof of the car AND hey presto the signal is great, even under bridges. So when they say the best position is on the roof, well on the convertibles it must be higher than the roof. Will now try to find a longer mast to fit

Be aware that some weather conditions also affect dab signals, if one day the signal is perfect and the next its not, then it wont be your equipment, it will be the weather(fog etc) I have experienced it.
