TH is the best. Well rounded reviews. With such passion and charisma it's no wonder why they're absolutely the premier car review channel on YT. I've been a fanboy for longtime and its great to see this conversation take place.

Why not the S55?
@gyallis4life61724 күн бұрын
Mainly due to the noise and "M tax " on engine parts. Furthermore, as a young adult, ive seen all my peers fixated on numbers (0-60, 60-130) instead of the character of the car. My current daily is a 2006 Honda Accord Euro r, and I smile ear to ear driving that car. 😂

I’ve had my OG M2 since February of 2024 and have put nearly 25k miles on so far. It’s been a blast. I really wanted the M2 Comp but I got a really good deal on my OG. M2 Comps with no accidents and low miles we’re selling for $12-17k more than the OG and I just didn’t think the difference was worth that much

Nothing wrong with the OG M2. Many actually like it more.

@@sdgsdgsdg54 probably. I didn’t have much seat time with the stock intercooler. I did the chargepipe, intercooler, downpipe, and tune in the first week of owning the car. The stock one was tiny compared the the 6.5” I put in

2:50 Isn’t the Competition suspension exactly the same as the OG? As far as I know, the part numbers of springs and shocks are the same.

It's not the same and it's way too stiff

@@jonathanwinston9958 How is it different with all the same part numbers?
@chrisbradley322422 күн бұрын
It is the same as far as part numbers but the Competition has a strut brace where OG does not. It is hard to explain how it drives differently, it's either weight or they revised some of the unchanged part numbers during the LCI.
@randomhero43819 күн бұрын
Love my OG M2 for dual duty usage. At an instructor pace, you can hammer it all day with minimal modification. There are definite benefits to the OG over the comp. It’s the perfect mid-level track car that can be daily driven and have kids in the back!

If you have an F87 get the MP coilovers and adjust them to softer settings. He’s right the standard suspension is really awful. It totally transforms the car.

Good to know on the top mounts. We need a couple degrees of camber in the front to fit our new square setup - any advice to keep the noise down with top hats?
@kenengrie25 күн бұрын
I have öhlins r&t with stock mounts, perfect for the road but not enough camber for the track with the stock hubs. So I upgraded to the camber correction hubs from BMW, now -2.5°C camber up front. I had Millway street top mounts before but found them still to produce to much NVH.

I have a M235i 6spd Stage 2 Tune, one thing i hate the most is the power band. Either Stock or tuned, it has too much down low torque and no top end. It dies at 6000 rpm and i have 1200 rpm left, wish it was more linear. Ive spun out a couple times cuz of it 😅

@@bmwblog Infamous S55 crank hub held together with friction ring and hope, instead of being keyed. 10 long years BMW knew about the flaw and refused to revise it because it would be admission of guilt.

Crank hub problem is way over blown. So few had any issues.
@idokwatcher206223 күн бұрын
@@jonathanwinston9958 Even if I agree it is overblown - I would accept it on M2 Competition. But I could never accept it for the price of M2 CS. Some people had their crankshaft crack during drilling for keyed hub. But the risk (however small) on crankshaft cracking on expensive M2 CS is unacceptable.
