Mate your gonna regret it trust me TIMING CHAIN FAILURE BE WARNED IT WILL FAIL and there is nothing you can do about it this engine is prone to failure Expensive expensive job at garage as gearbox has to be dropped down timing chain is on the back and the tensioner breaks causing major damage on the engine That’s what everyone thinks start of small that’s the wrong thing that’s why so many people end up always saying bmw it shit they buy a 4 cylinder and expect it to be reliable 🤣🤣🤣 NO CHANCE !!!! Only the 6 cylinder is reliable unfortunately 4 cylinder is a british made engine and worth scrap that’s all it is to me anyway if I was you GET RID and don’t look back and get a 6 cylinder before you come on here like the rest talking bad about bmw like there bad because your 4 cylinder let you down which NOT all the engines are like that JUST the 4 cylinder ones why because bmw doesn’t want them to last this channel is 6 cylinder channel mate you won’t be finding no 4 cylinder junk here

Your so right about the oil change intervals. Both X3 E83 that I and the wife own were bought used with 100K millage and the inside of the engine was full of sludge, one of the X3 (mine had so much sludge that you couldn't even see the top of the springs under the fill cap) the top of those springs looked like it was covered with peanut butter. And sure enough when I bought it and drove it home I had vanos solenoid codes come up. BMW here in Canada changes oil once per year or 25,000KM. That's crazy. I had to use two treatments of AutoRx and now its super clean and I change the oil every 7K. My old E36 had 480,000KM when I sold it and it only consumed 1/2 a liter every 7K and pulled and sounded like new. The Number One Thing You Can Do Is Change That Oil Often. N52 here in Canada BMW recommends the bronze oil change Castrol Synthetic long life 5w-30 or pay more for the best grade which they call the (Gold oil change) using 0w-40. I use 0W-40 Castrol Edge, and never had valve tic. Keep that engine clean.

Change oil every 3K. i dont know why people went away from the 3k oil change. I use only mobile 1 full syn and still change my oil at 3k. its only $40 to do a change.

Revving other car doesn't make any changes to voltage, alternator gives 13.8-14.2v at any revs. Important thing is not to try to start your car with dead battery but wait for at least 5-10 minutes to get at least some current in batery and then start your car. It is safe to start any car that way. Current can't be "given", it flows ony as much as battery and other devices "ask for it" and that is why you must wait before starting car so that voltage gets stabile above 12v.

Completely correct but I fitted this as I was paid more then this E60 is even worth to fit this system by the company, so if anything went wrong or it caused massive issues I wouldn’t have lost a penny. If I really liked these systems think about it wouldn’t I have fitted this to my M5 ? But unfortunately they didn’t pay me that much to do this review. But they paid me what this car is worth so it was worth it as it now means I can secure the new car for this channel.

Now - I am a complete noob and have only had my BMW E60 5 SERIES 530d auto with sport gears since last xmas.. I only want a few thing done...1. Qucker acceleration. 2.) louder turbo ..i know because its diesel it wont give the WOOOOSH sound id' like ...but is there anything to make the turbo sound more pronounced.. and lastly ...3) car audio.. Ive kept everything as standard..but would like to add amped parcel shelf speakers and a 12 inch sub.. A) is it possible with the standard built in stereo and B) do you know of anywhere in or near Essex that can do the install ?.. There maybe future mods ..but for now this is what id like to achieve...oh and deleting the glove box cd changer.... any assistance, pointers etc id be most grateful. if you need anymore info about my car please let me know..especially if you can do any of these things 🙏👍👍 best regards - Martin.

Got my 2010 528xi dead at an insurance auction. I had to jump it with a Chevy Silverado V8 at the jump spot under the hood. The Chevy didn't have enough punch at idle so I added a jump pack on the BMW battery as well. Started just fine and no issues with electrical system. Im betting the BMW alternator puts out more amperage than the chevy? Dont see what could go wrong.

I have a 2006 325i e90...the idrive,radio, idrive screen , and joystick all failed the warranty ran out... I priced a replacement system and could buy a different car for that kind og money... so I installed a double din android head unit after market rear camers...I had a hell of a time locating a constant 12 volt (acc) wire... as I was looking with a multimeter (car running) I touched a I touched a red/yellow wire and brown (assuming it was ground) wire... the car flipped out... wipers going off on high speed the right rear window inching down head light sprayers popped out and spraying (did not even know it had headlight washers...i.e. no button for them) when I shut off the car and pulled the corresponding fuses to the systems effected the car finally starts but no dash. Luster fu ctions rr window fully down and will not go back up. ..assuming d if I leave the negative terminal on it drains the battery completely dead... battery is a month old and fear it's ruined...can you advise in what I can do to fix this problem or is the car destroyed? I have to believe some how it can be fixed ...it's my only vehicle. ..it's sad paid off and I do love the car... hoping for a miracle. ..praying to the car gods that it can be resolved! Any help or knowledge will be much appreciated

Same with my e60 there’s not a single piece of chrome anywhere on the car which is why it caught my attention when I saw it. Not a big fan of chrome. It’s like how some people prefer gold over silver. Or alloy wheels over chrome wheels

I just bought a 07 750 li I believe in keeping it original aswell. That is why Im absolutely down with with with the doc. I had the car a month hood came up and smashed the windshield thought I had it fixed two weeks later did it again. Busted the windshield and sunroof I have now replaced them and fixe the latch issue. Change the radio to a new factory replacement Android radio and screen. Look factory and gives you wifi and internet access.

Have you got a video on the central locking issue/fault on E90s and similar models at all Dean? Dealer fucked it up refused to put it right cos they couldn't fix it! Sent it back worse than it went in!! Any help PLEASE mate cos no on seems to know.. I heard in Germany it was a recall and they did the front two actuators for free but don't know the details on that and it wasn't in U.K. as they didn't admit liability here. It's an 07 320d 6 speed manual transmission M47 lump with recent uprated turbo only done 57k miles and fully loaded had from new so I'm looking to fix the central locking and uprate the breaks cos they need doing maybe get a remap but also advice on that please with the uprated turbo and also regards the leads you mentioned some engines have which are no connected or blanked off that can be plugged in to release more power, not sure if that's applicable to the M47 2.0 diesel? I've got an e46 same M47 Lump except garret turbo from factory, so I may even do that aswell not sure or may sell that to cover the cost of the maintenance/upgraded mods on the E90 as j don't need to and the E46 still only 126k so still low for the 6speed manual 2.0 diesel. Sorry for the essay but that's the situation I trying to weigh my options but need to get as much correct information as possible on the E90 both standard, upgrades and fixes for the central locking and any standard plug in improvements that are/maybe on it already/hidden? Is it ok to change the OEM bulbs to led blue bulbs? For the dome, interior and signal light on the fender... I have 04 525i and I put led bulbs and now my battery keeps dying.. replaced the battery and now I'm getting warnings on battery draining..

jump starting any modern car with sensitive electronic modules is OK so long as you use the following procedure: dont ever do a direct battery to battery connection for ground! use an engine ground on the car you want to start. On the donor vehicle turn on headlights (full) and rear heated screen (anything that uses lots of energy!) but not motors! then start it up. Depending on how flat the cars battery is it is best to leave it part charging for around 10 minutes (you can switch of electrical loads for this period). Just before and during starting the vehicle you should rev the donor car to around 3000RPM with headlamps on etc (minimizes risk of alternator voltage spikes occurring). ***** When the donor car has started turn on its headlights and heated rear screen etc (same as donor) before you disconnect the donor vehicle.***** Doing the above will eliminate the risk of spikes damaging modules (in both cars) as any potential spikes will be absorbed by the heavy electrical loads, the disconnection of the donor is the one of main concern. as the alternator is trying to produce full power to charge 2 x battery's as it is disconnected from the other vehicles load, it may suddenly cause a voltage spike! if the battery has been left drained flat for more than a few days it may take ages to recover back to maximum capacity (if it ever does?).

Hey bro quick one so my dpf been blocked for a while Come a couple regens on it and it didn’t work. Today engine management light is on ( Incresed emissions ) and it doesn’t sound to good gears are staying for longer doesn’t sound good at all and there is like no power. hi I have a 2002 BMW 745li and I changed the dme and the key fob now the car just turns over and wont start at all, I was told I didn't have to have it reprogramed to the car and was told I needed to have the new dme reprogramed to the car... and bmw tells me that the dme and key fob I got out of another bmw 745li wont work at all due to security reasons,, I'm just so confused at this point.. which is the truth...? can the dme and key fob I installed be flashed to my car or not...? thanks... oh yeah BMW wants me to bring in the car so they can fix it to the tune of roughly $900 to reprogram everything they said it will take about 6 hrs to do the complete job... its a beautiful car and now its just sitting in my back yard collecting dust and I just want to get it running again... No my friend you cannot just reprogram a used dme from another car it needs to be registered with your cas it still has the data from previous car you are meant to change the numbers to match what’s in your cas Dealer will NOT be able to reprogram a used dme so do not listen to that crap they will end up telling you you need to buy a brand new dme I can do this for you but you would need to send it to me along with your other dme if you have it

Yes. I own an E90, an Audi A4, G35, and Grand Prix GTP and that's all I use. It makes a huge difference. I figured this out with the GTP first because it's a touchy and finicky as hell

E92 went dead I hooked up straight to a battery not in a car tried to start got nothing took out battery threw it on charger cleaned all terminals. Put battery back in . Started car seems computers reset now I have a 4x4 code on dash and no readings as far as service records. I'm lost on clearing the code. Thanks

Doc. .. Got my e60 2.5d.. Car stays sometime in 1100rmp and the acceleration pedal is not effective anymore... Only if I press it to maximum it gives some life.. I got the errors - 003F13. 003F20. 003F23 battery goes dead over night.. And a throttle error : 004687 Did did tell you something? Sensors on pedal or adjusting throttle or to low baterry.. Need to. Clean something.. Please help... Cheers

I have catless headers installed on my e60 530i, was originally a 2.5 engine but now has a 3.0. what's the best way to go about getting rid of the check engine light for the cats. Should I get it tuned or get a Euro flash? It do I just have to keep clearing it?

My 07 530xi went into limp mode and the dumb mechanic don’t know what’s causing it I thought it was too low on transmission fluid and my alternator being non good but they said that’s all good and that my coolant hose that has the coolant temp sensor on it is leaking pretty bad and caused my water pump from working is there any truth into that do you think

My n52 lost power.i just had it swapped and this engine doesn’t accelerate when I step on it, although it will still change gears the more speed I pick up.20-25mph max. I do have a broke oil filler cap..any chance that’s the problem.?maybe oil pressure is too low.? NA

Bmw & Mini Doctor well it was giving a thermostat code so I switched that last night, turned out to be connected wrong, but it’s still running the same..Well I took it to autozone.and I’ll take again to see if any other codes popped up now that that’s properly installed.

No mate it’s not you have to make do with what you have you got the slower version and less powerful because you guys can’t be trusted with this much power at your rear wheels you will kill your self’s hence why they give you 4 wheel drive system And not rear wheel drive always your power is down compared to ours that’s why you never got 535D it’s to powerful for your country to handle

Hi Doc i have an issue with my pre lci 530i m sport. The brakes judder through the steering wheel under braking, i have replaced the discs & pads all round and the tech says all looks good with regards to bushes etc. He did say the bottom arm bushes looked a bit worn bit that was it. Can you help, its driving me mad.

Mate this is a common common issue on these cars mate and cannot be rectified at all it’s something that has always been a problem since release of these cars and nobody knows why mate at all even my one does it and I have replaced every single thing on the suspension and it’s still the same even Nathan has the same issue

I did notice that i checked the oil the other day and it was reading full however the following day when i turned it off a yellow oil light came on and showed low oil, so i added 1ltr as it says but it still shows low oil on the i drive. 1 bar i think but the yellow light dosent com on now. Is the sensor faulty ? I dont want to over fill it and can i retro fit a dip stick as i think having to drive 4 miles before i can check the oil seems a bit daft. Thanks again for your help Doc.

Yes you can do that and there is no cons mate only positives about doing this it’s a good addition to add to the E60 and I would recommend doing it BUT ONLY if your CCC is failing or it’s a problem

Remapping ain’t sorted yet and I advise against it on diesel cars you want more power get the 550i diesel is not made for power petrol is remapping diesels destroy the gearbox then cars were made to be economical and to travel pulling power is for caravans not for race track Also it is probably your comfort access module or the battery in your remote probably dead

@@BMWDoctor 6hp26 is rated for 700nm by zf 6hp26TU3, is rated for 900nm+ . I have done 50 000k km´s with 970nm on my personal 535d e60 LCI no problems whatsoever, the thing that causes problems in these, is bad remaps, in which the ecu falsely tells the gearbox that it is applying 500nm ish worth of power, so the TCU wont apply correct amount of pressure to the clutchpacks. that causes slip and gearbox temps to shoot up, i do these remaps as a job, and if you tell the TCU that you actually are applying 900nm+ of torque, the tcu can manage to control the gearbox in a correct way. so that the temps stay normal, and any slip wont occur. 0-100kmh 4,3sec 100-200kmh 9,2 sec 121mg/stroke wagner cooler, diy CAN operated water/meth injection r90 pump hybrid turbos. Any questions? would be happy to help.

hey Doc, got a e90 with a N51, keep getting battery discharge...when I first got it, same message so I changed the battery, got it programmed, and it was fine for a bit, but then i got battery discharge again and now it’s completely dead...interior lights flashing, dim headlights, red idrive screen at startup then goes away, and a very hard startup, am i looking at an alternator problem then?

Got an e60 2009 model, the CCC unit keeps rebooting from the BMW logo. It's the 8 cd version. Do you repair them? It has the voice and bluetooth phone calls but no music streaming.

I do repair them but not for everyone as its a major repair of the whole board and a very long job for little money thats why many people dont repair them anymore

Do not even dare map it your gearbox will blow up straight away don’t believe me you can try Also I was the only one in the country repairing ccc 7 years ago I don’t know about now I come out of it as to much time and effort for small money wasn’t worth it and a lot of patience

Well the E90 pre LCI grills make the front look rediculous and Banglesque. I can't stand these at all. The part on the hood looks so unfitting. Especially on darker colours (darkblie/black/darkgray) a dark grill looks really good with dark grills (kind of more "sporty" and agressive of course). From E90 LCI onwards: No problem with chrome. First thing I changed on my red E30 Was going back to OEM chrome grills.
