Manual 2014 M135i 500 hp hybrid turbo owner here. Have recently changed/ replaced all parts mentioned in this video because of numerous oilleaks etc. Massive bill for repairs!! Got upgraded BMS cold air intake, aluminium inletpipe, chargepipe, Wagner intercooler, downpipe, Sachs racing clutch, H&R coilovers, MMR sump baffle and BMW M- Performance LSD. Engine runs on thicker 10W-60 oil changed every 5000 kilometers. The car is always driven spiritualy and has done a handfull of track- days and done several laps at the Nurburgring. Equipped with light flow- formed rims and Nankang AR-1 semi-slicks the car has NO trouple doing battles with Cayman GT4's and other cars 4-8 times it's value. But hard use combined with high horsepower output comes with equally high maintenance costs. That said the engine runs strong, sounds glorious and pulls massively with 730 NM in all gears! A tuned M135i/140i is a serious pocket- rocket💥💪

I have 12' BMW 135i M Sport DCT at 97k miles. Only issue has been upper radiator hose nozzle for the return line to the reservoir. Changed with ease and did the return line too. I have done the belt, sparks, serviced the DCT with new oil and pan and filters. A solid build with so much torque. I have a VRSF charge pipe and a Mosselman with thermostat oil housing is next.

2013 N55 335x drive... 135km... I've changed the oil gasket back around 100k as preventive maintenance. Plugs, filters, lots of oil changes... I never liked BMWs 20k oil change interval, though it was too long. Daily driver, summer and winter with the AWD it's unstoppable. Currently the oil pan is starting to leak and with the AWD it's a PITA to change... otherwise this car as not asked me for very much of anything.

Currently running on 70k miles and changed the leaky valve cover, spark plugs, water pump and thermostat and the common coolant tank due to the seam separating guess it’s common for the E-series… still got to get to the oil coolant housing gasket and a walnut blasting. Frankly spoken the N55 was a complete maintenance nightmare for me. Owned a 2010 e92 335i x-drive and I actually loved this car. In the last 3 years a lot of failures occured, coolant pipes and coolant tank broke, the waterpunp was dead, 3 oil leaks (valve cover, oil pan and oil cooling system). Car refused to start because of keyless entry sensor short cuircuit on passenger's door. Finally I had to let it down after an engine damage at 150.000 km, lots of copper debris was found in the oil filter indicating a bearing failure.

Great and informative as always, what's your advice for E92 N55 owners on key maintenance areas for the previous generation engine? I recently got a 2011 N55, how likely are the spun rod bearings from your real life experience in the UK and are they mainly caused by oil starvation as oposed to wear in M3? Thanks
@BMWDoctor3 жыл бұрын
To be honest there wasn’t “That” many that had the issue, many were due to long oil changed and also boosting the engine to the limit when the engine was cold. Also many would slap a tune on the car and redline it from the moment it started without care. N55 isn’t common for rod bearings to go out, also if you have E90 you will have the older version N55 even tho it has PWG it’s still the OLDER 302BHP version which mine is the 320BHP version so yours wouldn’t be m performance. The m performance were only fitted to the F series.

@EnjinTale Жыл бұрын
@@Use2FACTAUTH generally changing every 5k is perfect, 3k can be excessive UNLESS you just want peace of mind then go ahead. Also avoid tracking your N55, long corners tend to starve the engine of oil for a split second causing bearing failure, otherwise wait until oil is up to temp and bash it as hard as you want and there’s basically no chance of bearing failure. @virenpatel99733 жыл бұрын
Easy way is to run codes. See which cylinder is misfiring, take that ignition coil, swap with a cylinder that isn’t misfiring. Clear codes and drive to misfire again. Run codes. If it follows to the good cylinder you know you have a bad coil. If not, do the same with the spark plug. Most likely the coil.
