BMX History in Nebraska | 1970's Vintage BMX Roots!

Through first-hand accounts, along with dozens of restored photos from our catalogue, you’ll learn about Nebraska’s first BMX tracks and the racing pioneers who rode them. I’ll share my own memories and stories, along with others who were there to experience the action.
Produced in 2010 for the Nebraska BMX Hall of Fame, with commentary from Brad Fanshaw, Chris Heyden, Doug Olson, Rex Reason and myself, this video tells the story of those early days of bicycle motocross in Nebraska.

Hello Doug Olsen & Rex Reason ! This is Mike Burke from Colorado. Remember me Guys ? ? I rode bikes w/ you guys back in the 1970's ! I moved to Colorado back in 1979. My Mom got married in 79' & we moved away from Lincoln. I hope you all have been well and doing good 👍.. Nice to see you guys on video on KZbin. I'm 61 y.o. now. I really miss those good Ole days. Hi Mike! I remember you for sure! This is Tim Lillethorup. I'm in contact with Grubbs, Baumert and Reason fairly often. Doug Olson lives overseas and haven't seen him in a while. Doug and I were both still racing in 2010! Sadly and tragically, Randy Gibson passed away a few years ago. He was hit by a drunk driver while riding his gravel bike outside of Lincoln. It was awful. Randy was the best. We had a memorial service ride for him. I think about Randy every time I ride.

Pretty cool story of the history of BMX racing and father and son team work... That is something that is definitely lacking today instead of sitting in the house staring at the phone like I am right now.
