The highlight for me in this year's x games park event was Josh Dove. I was so happy to see him compete, and look forward to seeing him at a future X games.

Marcus has so much energy, the guy is the duracell bunny on a bmx, ripping bangers back to back. Throws something every time his wheels are off the concrete.

Why is there no BMX vert anymore at the X Games? That was always the highlight for me and the most exciting.

@@Observations67 I mean, they still have vert for skateboarding? Dirt and pool are cool, but for me, BMX vert was the reason I started watching X Games back in the 90's. From what I recall, the final was usually the last event and really capped the whole week with the most exciting event.

Several reasons, in no order. 1. The number of professional riders able to ride vert to competition level is so tiny that theres just very little demand for it. 2. Young riders aren't interested in it and the learning curve is steep - it's not really like park riding or dirt where you can start small and build up. 3. Pro riders maybe just don't find it interesting. There's a clip of Logan Martin riding a (small-ish) vert ramp from a few years ago and he basically said it makes him dizzy. 4. Vert isn't contested at any other BMX competition (FISE etc) so riders aren't going to focus on it - especially with the Olympics in the mix now. 5. All the progression these days is in park and dirt. Box and spine tricks tend to be more popular with riders and audiences than quarter air tricks and they are more adaptable for different courses. Skateboarding is more air focused as they can trick quicker and don't tend to do as well on box jumps and spines. 6. Pro level competition parks are getting pretty massive in terms of ramps. If you're regularly blasting 10-12ft quarters, limiting yourself to one 14-16ft ramp seems a bit restrictive and there isn't really anything you can get out of it you can't get in a park comp in terms of tricks. 7. Setting up a vert ramp for comps or training is a massive investment in space and money. You could fit some regular quarters and a box jump in the same space and its going to work for a lot more things. 8. Unfortunately I think you might be in the minority and most people don't find vert exciting to watch. Less variety than a park comp, and by the 'smoother' nature of vert riding, less hucking mad tricks.

@@TheBClark88 Thanks for the detailed response. It all makes sense. I've been out of the loop and don't follow this stuff like I used to. When was the last vert at X Games? I saw a clip from 2019.
@TheBClark885 ай бұрын
@@alienrefugee51 I believe 2019. I’m pretty sure 2020 didn’t happen and then 2021 was held at private locations and the BMX was all at Pat Casey’s house so there was no vert. 2022 had mega-park I think which had a really big quarter but still not a proper vert. Then no vert last year. They do chop and change though. Dirt was gone for a few years but now it’s one of the main attractions. Sometimes they have a proper set of trails, sometimes it’s just 3 huge jumps in a row. I thought megapark was cool but that only happened for one year. 🤷🏼

Marcus has no fear. He's 100% adrenaline and focus and not even 1% concerned about anything going wrong. Absolute beast.

The riders with tricks lack flow, style and good lines. The riders that can flow/style have no crazy tricks . It’s like their should be a contest for flip whipping spinners and another for style riders
