Doyle is one of my favourite riders ever, but being a judge in BMX contests myself, I must say the flair IS a street trick. Just think of all the videos featuring riders doing flairs out of mini cement quarters made using barriers. So, to me it counts, if they don't want jumps, flairs, and aerials in general, then don't add quarter pipes to the course. It's called freestyle, anything goes! Peace!

I love Doyle's commentary so much, even had the old references too! I honestly think Devon and Lewis must have been less than a point difference at the end, I personally thought Devon shoulda got gold for some of those crazy over grinds but what an amazing contest

I really liked the history bits thrown in there like where the seat grab was born. I'm not a huge BMX guy and I mostly skate nowadays but i have ridden a bit. The level these guys are at is mind boggling. Doing opposite 540s out of a grind on those rails is nuts.

Funny I thought even Devon’s second run had more than Lewis’s. The pace Lewis had was great but it’s still a tight street course where technical tricks shine more. Glad to see a different podium either way.

Having grown up in SoCal; seeing this as the official X games street course was pretty devastating. I grew up snowboarding and was there in Big Bear in 1997. I road the course for fun. I've followed summer X-games (huge BMX fan, and skateboarding fan) ever since... and this... was like a crappy home made backyard skatepark. Yeah, it would be cool if it were in your or my backyard; but for an X-games course? What happened !? Sure; the riders are trying to make something of it, but this was a mind blowingly bad course.

@@freedomcaller I'd say yes and no to that it seems like the courses were rushed imo. To me it seems much easier to keep momentum on a bmx in the street course but everybody was throwing down on the park course even tho it was the size of a cereal bowl

Devon Smillie got robbed. His best run was complete, he improved upon his run each time he went out, and it involved more creative tricks and risky balance/combo lines than all the other riders on the podium. Not to mention when he completed his last run with that fullcab bar it got the biggest response from the crowd.

Well a huge congratulations to Lewis Mills on winning the gold medal in BMX Street. He is now the 1st Australian to ever win BMX Street, 2nd international rider to win this discipline, and the 4th rider to ever win BMX Street. I can tell you that in past year it was United States and Scotland that won this Discipline before.

Umm I don't know, Devon's round didn't seem so good for me to stay there, Brock had a better round than him 🤔 and Matt Ray also had a much better round than others who were above him, I didn't think the score was good they gave him Umm no se, la ronda de Devon no me pareció tan buena para que quedara ahí, Brock tuvo mejor ronda que el 🤔 y Matt Ray también tuvo una ronda mucho mejor que otros que quedaron por encima de el, no me pareció bien el puntaje que le dieron
