I want really thank you. I just bought a bmx 21tt and road my black beauty for one day, and realized i was rolling slowly instead of smooth and fast went back home to find my front wheel, was not trued properly. I decided to unlace the rim without realizing what did😫😫😫😥😥, yeah, i am a real bone head. But thanks to you!!! I was able relace my front wheel and, i can true the wheel also because i watched the 2nd video to this one. You guys at +bnc are the best thanks so much now i have two skills i can make money with.

I used to work at a bike shop in the mid-80's, I wish this tutorial was available back then. You really simplified the process for people to lace their own wheels. I have explained it to many customers that wanted to do it themselves, but more than half came in to have them trued and they would always overlap which created more work for me an the other guys. We would re-lace the last 18 or 24 spokes ourselves. Thank you for your excellent video.

two things i learned to do but still kinda hate doing. building a wheel. and drilling and tapping a frame for gyro tabs. cant remember how to do derailers and gears. that was always a piss off.

Doesn't this rim have offset spoke holes? Meaning the spokes on the LEFT hub flange, are threaded into the spoke holes on the RIGHT side of the rim, to increase the spoke angle and thereby increased wheel strength? This is the whole benefit of using an offset spoke hole rim design.

Your instruction was super helpful. Thank you. Lacing a 305 wheel today. Smaller wheels mean more bending, I think. 349 was the smallest I've done before now.

"Bend the spoke without damaging it" *proceeds to permanently bend spoke*
@theren83112 жыл бұрын
Unless it's broken, no matter how bent a spoke is, it'll be straightened when you true the wheel. Otherwise, your wheel won't be true or get quickly untrue if it's not stiff enough.

this video saved my life & my wallet! my local bike shop wanted $65 each wheel. Thumbs up, Subscribed & gonna check out the next video on Truing. :D
@bmxriderforlife12346 жыл бұрын
thats shitty. my local shop used to charge 40$ and they put work in. pre stretched the spokes and stuff and tightened them back up so youd have less issues with a new wheel breaking in. the one wheel builder could build a wheel that was rock solid day one. and the other one had some tricks he used on certain peoples wheels that kept them going a long time. locktite the nipples. the blue semi permanent stuff. works like grease to prevent any issues of rust or grinding. but keeps those nipples tight. also if you run brakes you can use them as a ghetto truing stand, if you can get your wheel straight from side to side a small hop isnt too bad. and some shops charge less for just fixing a hop then a whole wheel truing.
@johnarnelcuachon7724 жыл бұрын
Here in the Philippines only cost $2 each rim set, just bring your spokes hubs and rims..they will do the job and you gave them 4 to 5 dollars.. and all good... problem here is the parts were too expensive..😅 labor is cheap

Thanks for your reply. I laced my first wheel yesterday and have watched over 30 youtube videos and they all tell you to start here or there but not explaining WHY. From my observation the reason you start from the left of the valve hole is because it is the top of the hole. If you start from the right side then the hole is at the bottom which will be wrong. You have one of the best videos. Maybe if you made another one and explain Why? you will have the best video. Thanks again.
@jesse-dg8yx6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely amazing. One thing I would suggest is if it's a back hub with different sized flanges or if you have really small flanges it's better to start on certain sides and is sometimes also better to put the spokes in before you need to otherwise the spoke next to it will cover the hole and you can't get it in.

In this video we are using a hub that incorporates 2 flanges that are the same size. Some companies make hubs that have 2 different flange sizes and a specific center offset.. If you are unsure it is best to contact the hub's manufacturer to ask what their spoke requirements are..
