The book lost me when a character has a long, inane discussion about her acting career with a woman who’s bleeding out on the pavement after jumping from a 10 story building. Absolutely ridiculous.

NY is a weird place in which it seems easy to be drawn into a conversation with people on the street and I say this because it did happen to me! And I was criticized for listening to a woman for a period of time.
