Africa's fast growing population will only be cause for more cheap labour & exploitation, not such a good thing. Also Africa's population is fast becoming educated (or at least should be) towards FAMILY PLANNING, before it's too late. The WHO & UN should be working hard at FAMILY PLANNING in Africa in place of free AID, causing poor people to simply have MORE children...a disastrous cycle of desperation & exploitation.

I'm sorry, but nothing tells me that a person has no clue what he's talking about more, than someone who blames our problems on the electoral system, and who thinks that throwing independent candidates into the mix is a good thing. That is probably the most dangerous, and damaging thing you can do to this country, even worse than what the ANC has done. The proportional electoral system is the very reason why we have a realistic hope that the ANC can be unseated. The proportional system means that we are not forced into a choice of the lesser of two evils, like in Zimbabwe, and we actually get to vote _for_ something we believe in. Together, all these factions adds up. But adding individuals to the proportional system will distort the proportionality, most likely in favor of the ANC. And why would you want to vote for an individual anyway? Look at the election results on municipal level, no one cares about the individuals, they vote for a brand. And that _should_ be the way it works, because politics is a team sport. If you can't even organize a party of people around you to support you in the election, and later in parliament, why should you even be on the ballet? We already have many parties in parliament with only one or two seats, and what difference do they make? Now we want to open the door for mickey mouse individuals who are even less relevant than the mickey mouse parties - who are usually build around an individual anyway. Seriously, you don't change the rules of the game when you are about to win. The inclusion of independent candidates into the electoral process is the most silly, most dangerous, most short sighted and ignorant thing that anyone could've forced onto South Africa. I hope these independents get the beating they deserve, and we put this silliness behind us as a country.
@mandlenkosihlazo9778 ай бұрын
We should actually vote for individuals..It's insane to vote for a brand n not care about the characters n competence of the individuals who will be making the decisions..
@Hannodb19618 ай бұрын
@@mandlenkosihlazo977 And that is where you are wrong. When you hire a company to do something for you, you're not hiring a bunch if hand picked individuals, you hire for the company. This is because you trust the company to employ the right people and to have the right processes in place and to do what is needed so you don't have to worry about it. The same with elections. I know what my values are, I know what the values of my party is, so I'm voting for my party trusting that they would vet the politicians and make sure they put the right people on the list. I really don't want to get into studying the backgrounds of 100 people to see who they are, what they stand for, and how reliable they are, that is the job of the party, and if they don't do a good job, they'll be punished for it at the election booth. And I certainly don't want to give my mandate to a person to do with it whatever he wants. The mandate I give is based on the party's principles and values, and I expect every representative of that party to uphold those views, regardless of who they are. Politics is a team sport, not a solo performance. That is why parties that is build around a personality always fails. The EFF is an exception to that so far, but again, the EFF is nothing without Malema, and that is not a sustainable party platform. Politics should be about values and principles, not personalities.
