Thanks Claire for this inspiring video! The surnames Wiese, Basson and Mouton are iconic business masters! I'm very fortunate to have the genes! My one grandmother (paternal) was a Wiese (Van Rhynsdorp), my other grandmother (maternal) was a Basson married to a Mouton (Piketberg)!! My oupa Mouton was a genius and was a blacksmith who designed agricultural machinery in the 50's!

I am a black man; I am an ANC voter. Mr Wiese is one the tiny few business people I look up to. If he was not such a successful businessman, he would have made such a great President of our country. He is a very calm, rational and wise old man. He does not involved emotions in his decision making, he thinks with his head not his heart. I have been following his speeches for a long time now, especially on Biznews platforms, even now I did not know about this platform but just saw his face and I clicked to watch. In every platform he is always the adult in the room.

Aw, what a beautiful and insightful interview, Clare. Your questions were very well thought-out. And Christo Wiese (your Dad) gives such sage business advice. Christo Wiese was a client of mine over 25 years ago, when his children were still at School. What a pleasure and a privilege it was to be in his presence. He has a way of making you feel heard and interesting. He was exactly the same then as he is now, measured, considerate, kind, caring, wise, interesting, interested in all people, and the perfect gentleman. I loved what he said at the end of the interview about being an incurable optimist.

Christo Wiese is a businessman I have immense respect for. This video reminded why I revere this man. He is incredibly humble, self aware, and personable. This is not a trait you would find with people who have achieved the stratospheric success he has and the wealth he has acquired. Good one Clare. Please consider inviting Messrs. Whitey Basson & Johann Rupert to your podcast.

Interesting. Some people are lucky to have parents like these who they have access to and can learn valuable life lessons. Duty of a parent not to leave his/her kids with struggle or poverty but comfort and opportunities. My kids will have this exact same access. But not only my kids but many will easily have access to someone like me.
