When it comes to the ES44C4 the 3200s are 2020 builds therefore you can have this formation Gen 1 Gevo ES44C4 2020 build 3200s then Lead Gen 3 Gevo ET44AC (ET44C4) on this route and Cajon Pass

It is interesting to me that on the West Coast GE outnumbers EMD 20 to 1 or so it seems. On the East coast and Midwest the numbers are far more even. Love the video.

They really do sound better than the EMD tier-4 version. If EMD manages to take the lead again, I'm afraid we'll no longer be experiencing these types of sounds again, never mind the smell of that exhaust.

I just got that Sony FDR-AX100 a week ago for $1071 open box. I plan on using it on my next railfan trip to Tehachapi Pass. Questions.....Are you using the built-in microphone or an external? Any lens filters? Was this recorded at the 60Mbs or the 100Mbs rate? What video editor? I'm ordering filters, Sony's fluid-head remote control tripod and their stereo microphone for this camera. This just got me looking even more forward to the trip. Nice video!

My Grandfather, 40yr Section Foreman.. Uncle, Head Cashier.. and cousins, Suits.. all for C & NW. Grew up where ATSF was Chief, and no C & NW except a box car occasionally. I suppose I should be partial for UP, but I can't. I have been BNSF since older brother was on Alliance BN yard. Now, it just seems natural to be BNSF only fan. I do not, as a rule, due to BIG XII team, care for Black & Orange. BNSFs config is perfect and only combination I can like! Had to get that off my chest. Lastly: We need more Super Chiefs & War Bonnets on Head End!!

The EMD SD70ACE-Tier-4 is gaining considerable popularity, and it is an extremely quiet locomotive. These GE's may be the last prime movers you'll ever hear, if EMD sells enough units. I never thought I would dislike a new EMD locomotive, until I started seeing those engine-less videos of tier-4 four-strokes at work. A sad future for all of us, I'm afraid.

The T4's have been caught smoking by other youtubers already ... probably from a malfunction, as most other T4's don't seem to smoke... (Well, you can see it, but it's not plumes of smoke like the dash 8's X'D)

yes, it a malfunction when the T4's smoke- yet to see a GE T4 not smoke on the occasion (which is a no-no),also there are soot stains on the roofs of those T4's,not exactly T4,imo.......

I live in Switzerland where the salaries generally are twice as much as in the USA in the most common jobs like commercialemployee, office, car mechanic, waiter, engineer, etc. But the living costs are twice as much too. As I know the average salaries in USA are about $ 30000 for example car mechanic or commercialemployee etc.. In Switzerland the average salaries are about $60000 to $70000. A locodriver should have about 60-80 in Switzerland, I guess. How do you come to the US astronomic salary of $83000 for locodriver ? Cheers

+peter schiller Median engineer salaries are somewhere around $60-$65,000 annually in the US. There are obviously engineers who make more and less than that but most will make somewhere around that amount.

+peter schiller No I'm not jerking you around. They really make that much. I'm an Electrician at Norfolk Southern and even I don't make quite that much. Locomotive engineers can make over $100,000 with overtime, but because of the weird work schedules, they don't get much time to spend it.

+peter schiller You can go to nscorp.com and go through the different career pages until you find the Conductor job description and their will be a section that explains pay based on union agreements. It will have the Engineer's pay included because at Class 1s, you eventually have to transfer to an engineer's position after training.
