It’s interesting how this is sort of like a weird mirror of the original pale machine. The lower-energy tracks are now higher energy, the prettier songs are now more intense, and the high energy tracks are now slower and more melancholic. Makes for a quite intriguing listening experience and a great companion + tribute to the original, while still offering a completely new experience using the old melodies..

This music feels like seeing a once-loved one again for the first time in years. It’s all so familiar, but so much has changed, you can’t quite be sure if it’s really the same person or not. It’s somewhere between comforting and painful, and you know it doesn’t have to mean so much, but it does, it does. They look happier. Until they don’t. You don’t know if you’re allowed to enjoy it. At least, that’s how it made me feel the first time I listened to it. I think it’s beautiful.

The improvement in the mixing is INSANE but I also love how bo en's preserved/reinterpreted some of the rawness of the original album, especially with "I Hate Winter", "Paler, Still Paler" and "Our Time". I love how miserable the delivery is in the second - its a moody tone but there's such an exhaustion in his voice. Its like the loneliness of the narrator in Pale Machine has worn him down over the years - the story hasn't changed, neither has the hunger for intimacy, but he's spent all of his energy screaming into the void with no response. Gorgeous song and gorgeous sequel

I really like this album. compared to the 1st one, this feels more upbeat and joyful. It's like years later, life finally got better and it was worth the wait. You are more positive and instead of faking emotions, you accept and still carry on. You are at your best. Bad memories still get to you, but you block them with positivity. You don't feel alone anymore and you have more confidence than you ever did. It's like a reward for going through all the negativity.

Then, BAM, hits you with a whole ton of flavor. You see it's fruit punch, and even though you now know its fruit punch, it still tastes good as heck. bo en you're honestly amazing. Really. It was silly, it was emotional, it made me feel things that no other song could make me feel. seeing My Time explode in popularity thanks to omori recently made me so happy, because bo deserved the spotlight!!! i thought for a long time that bo would just focus on video game soundtracks, and wouldn't really come back to producing his own albums, which was still cool anyway and i was very happy he was doing something he enjoyed! then i saw the 10 year tour stuff start coming around, which included 2 of some other favorite artists of mine and im very excited to see the show!! i was so excited to see bo coming into the scene again. and now, 10 years later, a remastered version of an album that shaped me. i have no words except thank you so much bo, i definitely sound like a suck up rn but i'm so unbelievably happy haha. from the bottom of the heart of a random guy on the internet, much love

I just want to say: thank you, bo en. the original pale machine album was a huge comfort for me when I found it at 11--I was becoming incredibly depressed, bullied, and was beginning to show signs of OCD. I thought about ending myself all the time. your music inspired and comforted me in those times when I felt like I was completely alone and that my feelings were impossible to understand. I'm almost 20 now, but 5 months ago when this album came out, I was fresh out of leaving a long-time friend group because they'd become incredibly toxic and careless people who relied on drugs to be happy. I was left with very few friends and felt like I was at an even lower mental state than when I was 11. and then this album released, and it felt almost like a sign. that things were going to be okay, that everything keeps moving, that friendships come and go, and that I would make it through this. and I have. I'm coming to terms with a lot of things, and i'm still struggling, but i'm doing alright. I'm not thinking about jumping off a bridge anymore, at least. your music has been with me these past 8 years, and I couldn't be more grateful for the joy and comfort it's brought me. the more playful tone of this album really sets a mood of hope in contrast to the melancholic tone of the original, and I think that's wonderful.

I didn't know how to embrace them, and i didn't know how to be honest, but i didn't know how to say goodbye, so they left me, and i don't know how to fall in love again. pale machine 1 was my shit in 2014. thank you Bo En for making an album for us lonely fucks who came into adolescence damaged, who needed to hear "you're gonna be okay," who needed to cry about it, who would love and lose over and over because of our own screwups or because the people we loved were screwed up too, or because of the screwed up state of the world we live in, and because of the big deep hole we carry around inside, the ways we push away sincerity and connection because it's scary or imperfect and we don't know how to be honest about how we feel. those kids not sure if we're gonna make it. thank you for following up that album with a set of dancefloor remixes of the same words, the same feelings, those same patterns, but now for us in our 20s, adults who indeed wish we could forget the rent, who did love and lose and meet and fight and make up and sometimes lose all over again. those of us who still don't know if everything's gonna be okay, living alone, feeling alone, still not sure where to go, and stranded feeling like they can't get there without love from a lost someone with whom things will never work out. it was simpler then, listening to pale machine 1, even as we were more dishonest, trapped, immature and insecure. we couldn't foresee incompatibility, only chemistry, couldn't know the burn of things going up in flames time and again, the rippling pain of losing someone slow you fought hard to keep but even by your own admission not hard enough. back then heartbreak was just a fantasy. we hadn't failed others and ourselves, been failed by others, been rejected over and over, watched promising connections be smashed against the struggle to survive and the desperate lack of time in grown-up society for spending together. us, who know we need to stick our necks back out and try, try, try again, but finding it hard to feel anything other than alienated. so thank you for reminding us of the kaleidoscope of life, the beauty of melody and harmony and the undeniable urge to dance. rhythms from around the world, demanding our attention and curiosity. something else beautiful and unexpected yet familiar enough to let in and accept as a gift, skipping past the paranoia that would call everything from the outside poison. thank you for being patient with stubborn loneliness, for coming back for those of us who have grown and changed but still not enough to count ourselves fixed, those of us doing our best but still making the same mistakes. are you like me, to sing the ways i feel? i can't be sure. but like you say, it's gonna be okay. we're gonna be okay. i'll fall in love again. i don't know how yet, but i will. a thousand Thank Yous to you, bo en, and ten thousand wishes for your peace and happiness.

I literally had to use the translator to write my message (I speak Spanish but this is really exciting and I wanted to express myself correctly in its entirety), brother, when I heard pale machine for the first time I started to be very interested in that type of music, it seemed to me It made the concept super interesting and everything, a long time later when the game "OMORI" came out, I concluded that "My Time" actually fit perfectly with the ending of the game. Nowadays, like many other people, I imagine that my musical tastes have changed a lot. However, finding something that you liked a long time ago and seeing that many people, besides the creator himself, still remember it and are still interested in it to the point of practically making a remake of the album makes me very happy, seriously, never stop making music, you are incredible bro, thank you.

Already posted about this on “Paler, Still Paler” but my interpretation of this album (in relation to the original “Pale Machine” album) is that it’s essentially like you’ve tried to reinvent yourself, start anew to escape the pain, but then it slowly creeps back into your life until it eventually breaks you and sends you into madness. The first handful of songs here are super joyful and upbeat, then “(We Are) Friends” feels bittersweet, and “I Hate Winter” and “Paler, Still Paler” are much more melancholy. “Our time” is chaos and insanity. (The last two songs feel kinda separate imo) And yeah, like a lot of others have said, many of these songs feel very different to their original counterparts while still retaining a sort of similar energy, it’s interesting

Talk about the sequel we didn't deserve! As if Pale Machine wasn't enough, Pale Machine 2 delights and elevates using a list of previously existing bangers with a twist. Featuring mixing that really makes every layer POP as if you're sitting in a bubble while the wacky world plays out around you! Welcome old friends that have gotten just a little bit older, but boy-howdy did they age like fine wine! Some would say if Pale Machine was so good, why isn't there a Pale Machine 2? My question now is: Since we got a Pale Machine 2, will there be a Pale Machine 3 in another decade? If so, can't wait to listen with my kid! Thank you to all who contributed to this masterpiece--this showcase of talented minds and honed skills. It was truly an honour and pleasure!

this album was on CONSTANT repeat back in 2019 when i first discovered it and it's such an incredible feeling listening to the same songs reimagined and seeing how far the songs have come and how far we have come :)

Okay so honestly? Most of this is music that I'm probably not going to listen to. idk it just didn't fit my tastes (at least not on the first listen) HOWEVER I think that this is a really amazing sequel to Pale Machine, it's clear each song takes inspiration from the original, and yet it's completely different and almost unrecognizable (save for the last 3) Prelude in particular feels like a huge love letter to the original album, and then it suddenly shifts gears and switches to a much more vibrant, upbeat, fast-paced electronic feel. Got excited whenever I recognized a bit of a song, and was just sorta grooving for the rest of it lol. Found the cover art very fitting as well! Most of the songs felt like they had a similar energy to the artwork. It really feels like you've grown and evolved so much since the original and this is, for the most part, a more upbeat and happy-sounding album. Hope you're doing well, bo en. Pale Machine is a very special album to me and I think you made something really special here too. Edit: I take it back this is fire 🔥🔥🔥

it’s so meaningful that there’s a direct sequel or follow up to pale machine! it was the very first album i ever listened to in full and i realize in hindsight how much it influenced my life. it was an album that made me feel understood. listening to pale machine 2 really makes me feel a lot of things! i feel very nostalgic, hearing the melodies and motifs from my childhood, but also so happy, because the music has changed and evolved just like i have in the many years between pale machine and pale machine 2. i reared up listening to prelude, hearing music i cared about so much redone in such a beautiful way. i’m so happy this exists!

The moment the violin started I felt the 12 yo me bristle and rise up from the depths of my soul. This feels so much like a personal reprise, from being 12 to being 18. Puberty to teenagehood, teenagehood to adulthood

I listened to Pale Machine for the first time just a few years ago in 2021. It soon became my favorite album of all time, It greatly expanded my musical taste and led to me discovering a lot of the music I still listen to to this day, and made me realize that music is my passion. If not for Pale Machine, I would likely still be struggling to figure out what I want to do with my life after I graduate. Needless to say, Pale Machine was very influential to highschool freshman me. Now here I am, in my senior year of HS, listening to the sequel to the album that literally changed the course of my life. It feels like I'm back in July of 2021, listening to My Time for the very first time. I never thought that music, or any piece of art for that matter, would be able to do something like that to me. The moment the prelude started playing, a look of awe grew upon my face as I experienced this emotional flashback sequence like something from an anime or something. Thank you, bo en, for bringing back these memories of the past, and for making me the person who I am today.

small hc's for our time 1. 22:39 we hear the "i just" repeat over and over again, which is normal also in my time, but it gets more distorted. my "theory" is this song is getting played onto some sort of music playing device, like a boom box or a cd player, and the person grabs something and hits the device over and over again. we even hear at around 22:39-22:40 an object, in my theory a bat, getting rised into the air, presumably prepared to strike 2. btw this is specifically for omori, the game. SPOILERS BTW FOR BAD END OF OMORI 23:11 - this is obviously just a headcanon and no where near canon, so oh well. i personally believe when it says "as the voices inside my head" i believe Sunny is talking about omori, as the voice inside his head. then a bunch of oyasumi's. that would be omori repeating over and over to sunny, in a way "do it, do it, do it!" like trying to provoke him or smth idk. and in the end, sunny eventually "sucumbs" and oyasumi's (khs). 23:25 - we hear some sped up background smth (idk how to explain it "dabadaba") which in my head is sunny's mind spirling 23:34 - oyasumi again, but this time some new background vocals, presumably children, join in as a "choir". it doesnt seem as more than a group of 5-7 maybe even less, which makes me think the headspace gang would join in with omori in "convincing" sunny to oyasumi you can hear the most of the children's voices, in my opinion, at "your" 23:36 23:48 whatever the f7ck this is, idek i gotta do my german homework lol ANYHOW i am thankful if you read this intire f7cking paragraf of my writing, and honestly concerned at how much free time you may have CHECK YOUR PHONE BATTERY BTW BYEEEE-

Pale Machine 1 was a daily listen for several years of my... I guess, childhood? Feels weird to not be in that stage of my life (or at least not by law, and I'm already 19 :P). Music has that magical effect to move and shape you in a way not much does! bo en's unique, magical music helped me grapple with and experience more than i might have realized, and I don't think he gets the credit that he deserves for his beautiful music, even after the hype behind his inclusions within Omori. I'm so happy to be able to experience that joy and contemplation again, listening to this album. Thank you!!
