If you cant have a 12 cylinder sulzer, or even an 8 cylinder, dont worry. The little 6 cylinder are lovely little engines.

that clip of shutting the engine down in the shed brought back a memory of loosing most of a mug of tea while in the cab of a 27 when the driver shut down the engine

LOL. Aye, never knew they were so shoogley when they shut down. No. 038 looks fantastic. Any plans to paint one of the other BRCW Type 2's in their original BR green with white cab surrounds, body side "go faster" stripes plus small yellow warning panels ?

I noticed at ELR diesel gala the class 33 was rocking while ticking over, first time I had seen that, I did not see many, but plenty of 26 / 27's on Scottish holidays

@@wullie3xv923 The restoration of 27005 is now in full swing at the Bo'ness diesel shed. This will take a couple of years but the loco will be in outshopped in original as new green livery. Thanks for commenting Wullie.

Can't beat a McRat,and the 26 is looking magnificent ❤️🏴 👍🏻 If i remember correctly 038 was at the Inverness open day,back in 1986,and I got to visit the cab,think it was inside the shed.

Class 26038 was at Inverness open day in 1986 as you said. The loco hasn't changed much since then.We hope to have the cab headlights working soon. Thanks for your comment.

Hi there. Just had our diesel gala at the Glos and Warwicks railway. 5310 performed well too. 5343 still in bits. well done in getting 26038 up and running. Hope to get up there next year for a weekend and have some of Duchys' food again. Caroline

Lovely to see the 26 in action and it's a truly superb restoration for which you all are to be congratulated upon: seems hard to believe they started their lives working outer suburban services out of King's Cross! One small nit-pick, if I may: how come the number is correctly placed as 26 038 on one side, but as 26038 (with no space) on the other? The sound takes me back to 25s operating late at night on the ECML, the sound drifting up towards my bedroom window...
@BONESS270012 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment Howard. I didn't notice the difference in the number spacing. I'll ask our rivet counters at Bo'ness. This might be as per BR in the 1980's.

Never knew the 26s didnt have windows on the cab doors! Just looks odd to me to be honest!
@BONESS270012 ай бұрын
All of the 26s did have cab door windows when new. The blanking off was a Scottish depot / works mod. A few for the restored ones now have cab door windows. Thanks for your comment.

@@BONESS27001 Never knew that! Thanks for the clarification my friend. 👍

The 26s allocated to Inverness depot had tablet catcher apparatus fitted under the driver's cab window. The story I had heard was that this could be a bit temperamental with the tablet flying off occasionally and smashing the cab door window, hence the blanking off.
@BONESS270012 ай бұрын
@@johnwalker9750 Thanks for that info John, I'll pass it onto the team at Bo'ness.

What’s the story behind the GNER logo on 27005?
@JimmysTransportMarvels2 ай бұрын
If I remember rightly, someone's drunking idea to do that! 😂
@BONESS270012 ай бұрын
The GNER decal was donated to the diesel group. We decided to attach this to 27005 to wind up the spotters during 2016 as the cab front would be removed that year for restoration. The loco was then put into storage for other reasons and the GNER decal is still attached. This will be removed this year.
