Class 84 & Maude at Bo'ness 4K

The extraction of Glasgow built North British Electric Loco Class 84 001 from the Scottish Railway Museum at Bo'ness on 4th January 2023.
The loco was moved into the Bo'ness diesel shed for an ultrasonic axle test and functional brake test as requested by the national railway museum at York.
The loco is being moved from Bo'ness to York by road and then a rail move to the NRM.

Wow, I haven’t seen a class 84 since the seventies. Survival obviously depended on size of fleet, all similar locos cannibalised to source parts. Great look around, thanks 👍👋👋

Thats a decision for the national Railway Museum who own the loco, but I personally dont think it will ever run again under its own power. Thanks for your comment Peter.

No. I think you'r referring to 84008 that resided at Crewe works until the mid 1980s. Class 84001 in the video belongs to the National collection at York museum. Thanks for commenting.

when was it filmed in 2022 or 2023 as I thought you had made mistake putting 2022 instead of 2023 nice movement of roarer class 84001 it needs firing up on on electric as I would live to see it move under it's own power! Nice video of inside 84001 🥰

It was on loan from the NRM, so it was never going to stay forever at Bo'ness. However it will be replaced by a class 91, 91131 the train to be built at crewe and im pretty sure the first class 91 to be preserved

pitty 84001 isn't out doing railtours as with it's other class mates at barrow Hill depot all them sparkles gathering dust and earning no revenue!!!
