We’ve had 70s at the Gala before - very functional. I was amazed at how far people had come and the gala was quite short notice so even more remarkable. Thanks to everyone at the B&KR for making yesterday another great day.

I don't care what others say, I like how the Class 70s look. Their shape is unique among a sea of BR oblong sausages and their fronts have a boxy yet powerful feel. Plus if the front is a consequence of the crashworthiness features, I'm cool with it on safety grounds. Good to see both the old and new at this gala.

Class 37025 was on accommodation bogies and put in the headhunt for display. The 37s original bogies and wheel sets have been stripped for refurbishment. Thanks for your comment Finn.

Everyone to their own. I find it hard to believe that we have American built locos in the UK drawing in so many rail enthusiasts to a Scottish heritage railway. If thats the future, bring it on. Thanks for your comment.

Alot of british people are anti american.America builds the best diesel locomotves in the world hence why alot of other countries bought american designed locos over the years not many british built designs were used overseas and im talking diesel not steam . A class 60 or 37 or 50 or 56 wouldnt last 5mins in the USA.
