If people don't know how good Bo Ryan was as a coach go look up his stats. It will honestly blow your mind. From D3 to D1 he was a winnter. He never ever had the high end recruiting classes but when he did have good talent come in he always had insanely good teams. During his tenure in the Big Ten there was maybe one coach on his level and that was tom izzo. He never once finished lower than 4th in the Big Ten lol. Think about how insane that is. It's really unfortunate that the refs had to steal away a championship from him in 2015. He more than deserved it.

What a legend. I feel as though being a wisconsin fan i lnow more about chester pa than my own home town. Absoluxte legend. He was run out for garbage but went on his own terms out of loylqty to his assistant who he essentially forced the badgers to take gard as the head coach. And i know there are murmurings but gard is one hell of a coach. Ohh and if it werent for eggresious officiating errors against Duke would have won the whole damned thing at WISCONSIN! (Of all darned places with students who showed up to class) BTW Bo owns izzo Maybe a boring story but I was a TA teaching history and a basketball student athlete failed my class. Now I love sports my dad graded D2 on a wrestling scholarship, well I failed student an academic tutor called and said the athelete will not be eligible if he fails can you recalculate. Well hit the refresh button and math worked the way it worked. I was convinced that a basketball coach would bury me as a 22year old lib arts grad students. But never ever heard anything about it after that. He is a special person and UW is a special place that said we arent going to come down on this kid doing his job because we had a player that didn't do his. You won't find this attitude at so so so many more llacesvive since taught. Just a really really special person that created an atmosphere for student atheletes that at least in my experience didn't take the bouncy ball as more important than darned history. Looking back I thank him for that. I was naive but going elsewhere realize at many places hed could have destroyed me and my career wouldnt be what it is now. Was nwver on his team. But damn thanks bo Btw pro tip for you students at UW if you go to the library you can rent a 45 minute VHS tape from when he was at Platteville and watch him explain the swing offense. Taught me more about basketball strategy thanost anything he's ever watched. Skip your anthropology class and go to the library and watch it on one of the libraries VCRs

I hope some Chester greats were able to see this - Herman Harris , Len Gordy. and the Mills Brother. They were Chester Basketball in 1973. I think Bo had them in coaching somewhere. summer league , AAU ., Rec Ball ?

always thought he got too much hate from wisconsin fans complaining about the slow paced offense, trying tp push him out every year for not winning the big one. wisconsin should've never been relevant in basketball. bo ryan was one of the greats. something about wisconsin fans. complaining about paul chryst for running the ball and playing defense. complaining about bo ryan for not scoring 90 points a game. just embrace your identity, it works! efficency and defense. that's a great brand to have.

He did enough to beat Duke in the Natty. Grayson Allen had a coming out party, but the refs called 11 fouls to 3 in the 2nd half. Coach K’s crying stole one from this great coach.
