@@blablablaa14He’s not better than Phil Jackson, Pat Riley and Red Auerbach. Never won back to back titles and 3peated like they did. And don’t give me the same excuse that the other 3 had HOF talent. Pop had Duncan, Admiral, Manu, Tony and Kawhi. Even had great role players like Bruce Bowen, Stephen Jackson, Kevin Willis and Steve Smith also. He’s easily one the top 5 best coaches in NBA History but you Spurs fanboys love to overrate him.

Man listen, Pop is great. Definitely top 3 or 5 all time, but he never 3 peated or won back to back championships, which is pretty hard to do. Phil has 3 three peats and a back to back under his belt.

Its crazy to think, in 1996 when he took the reigns, everyone in San Antonio in 1999 wanted Pop gone from a 5-7 start after being in the regins 2 plus years, with Timmy now with the team, but from that point forward, he would craft the culture and fortitude to wield a team that would make 22 consecutive seasons above .500, and 20 consecutive 50+ wins in a row, which may never be matched again, in an era where its so different today, I'm 53 now, and watched and am a fan of the Spurs from the early 80s when the Ice Man was in town, to today where I'm getting the opportunity to see another potential dynamic player in Victor, who Pop is molding into the hopefully next person in the Spurs anals of its over 50 years of history. RC Buford definitely deserves being in the Hall if nothing else for cultivating the dynasty of the past 20 years plus as an executive of the team. There definitely will never be another Pop when his time comes, and when his time does come, everyone that didn't know about Pop, especially today's people in this sport, will definitely know through everyone that has had the opportunity to play for or against Pop of just how genuine this man has been as our coach, but now more of an ambassador of this sport. Thanks and grats Pop on your enshrinement to the Hall, well deserved and respected throught the league.

As turned out, some became All-Stars and champions, to the dismay of other teams bypassing them. Tanked to get Tim Duncan? Review 1997 draft lottery. The Celtics had 2 (or 3?) lottery balls. San Antonio had one, and it happened it was good enough. Don't be an ignorant hater with a Dunning-Kruger effect.

@@Peakfreud It just happens Steve Kerr listened to Pop more than Phil. Maybe because Pop is more relatable and cares about relationships. When Steve announced his interest to coach, PhilJax invited him to coach NY. Pop told him to coach where Steve's family will be in a better situation. Kerr felt it is in SF. Warrior bandwagons tend to dismiss Pop's influence to GS' ongoing glory years. Phil settled in former player Derek Fisher. Few years later, Fish was fired, and so was Phil.

@@Peakfreud So what’s the moral lesson? Phil Jackson is most effective if he’s the coach, NOT as VP of basketball operations. That’s why the 1999 Knicks’ Playoff run was a fool’s gold. Jackson was reportedly waiting in the wings, but since the Knicks went to the Finals and Jackson can’t wait any longer, they lost a man who could revive the Knicks’ real glory years and give Patrick well-deserved ring/s.

Pop the GOAT. Many people will say Phil but lets take into consideration on the journey both went through; Phil was already a winner before coaching (became champion with the Knicks) so its easy to maintain the same success going into coaching, while Pop did the hard way - the true definition of rebuilding a team and turned into dynasty. No wonder Warriors dynasty exists up until this day its because of the Spurs blueprint. Ball movement > Triangle offense all day

Someone please help me out. Lifelong NBA fan, have coached for years myself so respect what a great achievement this is. I've listened to every single man woman and child rave how great this guy is. I just don't see it. Not a hater at all but I want to understand the pedestal he is put on. Can someone detail what it is that makes him different? I've had the chance to watch him coach without 3 hall of fame players in his lineup since Kawhi left, and I can't say I'm very impressed. Thats the real test, when you don' t have an all star team on the floor each game. Listened to the whole speech for some indication but other than people absolutely adoring him I can't see it. Is he just a terrific human being that got lucky? He certainly talks like he got breaks at every single turn in his speech. Anyone?
