Ok, I have decided I want my hypothetical game to be CALLED Greenbay Packers. Here's the concept: The board is set out as a dock with warehouses along one side and boats along the other. Each player has their own warehouse which is an empty rectangle, and each player has their own boat, but there are also some neutral boats that anyone can take from. The game consists of the players taking turns choosing tetris-like block formations aka cargo (which are painted green) from either their own boat, or the neutral boats, with the aim of making squared off rectangular prisms. when they square the top, that load gets shipped (scored), and the game ends when the bag of blocks empties, unfinished loads give no points, finished loads give points based on height.

It's underwater, so the matching tiles could be above and below each other, letting you swim to other player's tableus once there are matching connections! When you're in another players area you cant explore, but can collect good loot they have already revealed but couldn't pick up (for whatever reason).

Ok, I'm thinking either: Real estate bidding game about house boats in green bay (but I don't have this one thought out very much) or A moving company based around the Green Bay. This would be a dexterity race where you are trying to pack your trucks and get them to the other houses and unpacked the fastest. Teams would draw cards that would show an item and then find the bit with the matching color. Items are divided up by size and fragility. big items would require both players to simultaneously pick them and place them but small items players could toss to each other for the person closest to the truck to load (undecided if this is bits or if you are tossing/picking up the cards) When a team finishes packing a truck they take the order card (1st team would take the 1, etc) These will count as money for a fast job (points). Then, you check to see which things have been packed so quickly that they were broken on the drive over. if a small item is below a large item then it is damaged and you lose money. Teams with the most money win.

I'm thinking of a board game that utilizes cards and dice. Each player is a pack rat that has to collect items that are placed on the map. The items are in the form of cards. This is probably a 2-4 person game. Players roll dice to move their rat towards the normal "hot spots" for finding items (trash cans, gutters, basements, etc.). Upon reaching the location, the player will turn over an item card. If the player has enough space in their pack, they can take the card. Otherwise, they have to leave it. If it is left, it remains face up for other players to get. Once an item is taken from a location, another item can be found by flipping over the next card in the stack. Players must return their items to their nest to gain their point value. If a player comes in contact with another player outside of their nest, they can try to attack the player to capture the items in their pack. The loser must give all the contents of their pack to the winner. Each player also will have action cards they can use to enhance their rat. Actions can be things like a temporary boost in pack size to carry more items before returning to their nest, attack boosts, or to search through the item stack for a particular card. Items have point values and weight values. The weights will limit the number of items you can carry before having to return to your nest. Movement is performed by rolling a did. The game board is setup like a "maze", possibly similar to Pac-Man.A player wins when they have reached some predetermined point value of items in their nest.

So, Green Bay Packers. Makes me think of an old time dock where ships are trying to load up with cargo to maximize profit. Maybe even in a fantasy world and include some very interesting items, like dragon's eggs or spell books. I'm thinking a card game where everyone draws a hand at the beginning of the game, like Sushi Go. Each turn you choose one card to play and then pass your hand to the left. There would be sets you could collect, or multipliers, or even traps and hazards you can play against everyone else. Once the hands are gone, you tally up and collect your points for the set. Probably three sets to a game. Maybe include higher point cards as the game goes on to make it anyone's game by the end and avoid early elimination. I'd call it... Harbormaster.

I just got to your Design times and love them, Would like to possibly see your take on how to game a competitive while having co-operative play included as I just got the idea of making a game, but that portion of it is not coming together for me.

A game about moving. You have limited space in your trucks to move your furniture, and get more points from some items than others. All items have a size and fragility rating, which can limit the amount of items you can take or cause some things to break.

Well listening to this I've gathered that this dolphin game, though does seem like a solid game, doesn't really feel like a dolphin or a miami game. I could put a regular fantasy theme onto it and it would be the same. I'd gather there's a few distinct properties of a real life dolphins that one could build around to make a unique game. Like how they have different types of whistling sounds to communicate, How they use echolocation to map out the area, how they move in pods and can fight off sharks (this alone would make a badass game, and even explore the properties of sharks), how they're trained for rescue or performance (though I wouldn't use this property it's animal cruelty in many perceptions) or even how they can move really quickly in 3d space when a vast majority of boardgames simulate a 2D space. Same thing with Miami. What's unique about Miami? The heat, the beaches, the Vice :") There's a lot of things here to dive in (sorry) first before going into mechanics or genre. I feel like if the guys in the video give this session another go but through this process of thought they might get something even cooler than what they have here.

Not a school not a herd and not a flight, sorry. It's called a "POD" of dolphins, surprisingly enough.

so i'm watching this episode like a year after it came out, and i know this is totally cheating, but the packers game could absolutely be a themed cottage garden or patchwork, but packing boxed of cheese into trucks and the cats could be cheese wheels
