The figurine restoration looks like magic, thank you! I dont have that type of glue so i wouldn't have thought of it but it looks great, also to prevent further damage to the box and components falling out

I buy a lot of old board games so I do a lot of box repairs. What I like is giant elastics from Amazon to hold those corners as the glue dries. Works great. Really enjoying your Channel.

Welcome back! These tips are great. I now feel confident gluing my own copy of Piece of Cake that I received in a trade recently. How serendipitous.

Great tips and great to see you back. I use a tape from Scotch called Magic tape that is very clear and you can barely see it when applied right, I used it before on torn book covers and such.

I've had good luck cleaning with rubbing alcohol. It evaporates so quickly that I don't have to worry about the board or box getting too wet. Thanks for the tips!

Great !! I just bought an old classic Pente game from the 80's. It was not perfect but it was pretty cheap. I'm gonna use your tips to clean and refurbish it a little. Thanks for sharing this.

You described backbending a cardboard game board at the spot of the fold. But how would you deal with a curved board? I bought the new Quest for El Dorado: The Golden Temples game today. When I got home I opened the box to look inside, and I was disappointed to find the biggest terrain board being sealed in along with the other, smaller terrain boards. This bigger board was curved by the pressure of the plsstic seal around it. I really don't understand how publishers can even think of sealing such components this way, instead of putting ziplock bags or a piece of cellophane around them, without considering the consequences oc packing a brand new game. Now ond of my cardboard boards without a fold is curved, but I tend to think that only laying heavy stuff on top of it for s while doesn't uncurve it and mzy even worsen the damage. So, how to deal with curved boards?

Unfortunately I haven't been able to successfully flatten a warped board. Putting lots of weight on it on a flat surface shouldn't damage it but also likely won't help. You could possibly try putting weight on it while backbending it a bit in the other direction - like putting weight on the middle while putting something very small under the edges (or vice versa), trying to put weight on it while bending the opposite way. In theory it could work, but it could also result in the board warp becoming S-shaped. 🥴 I'd love it if someone commented with a good way to fix it. I'd like to know this too!

Great tips! I usually use scotch tape on split boxes, but I think I prefer your method, less noticeable.

Hi, by board got borken abit, if i want to glue it , can i use the same glue?
@BoardGems6 ай бұрын
You can, so long as it's not on a fold in the board. If your board is split along a fold then the glue won't survive folding along that edge, and you'll need to look at some sort of tape solution. Even if not on a fold, you may need to add support underneath the board, or it'll be easy to come loose again.

I bought a vintage Careers game to give as a gift to my daughter and it smells musty. What’s the best way to remove the musty smell? There’s the box, the board, the paper money, the cardboard drawing cards (similar to Monopoly’s community chest and chance cards), the paper pad to keep score and some magic slates

The first thing I'd try is baking soda. Put a small amount into an open cup or baggie and leave in the closed box for a day or two. Be sure not to move the game around and make a mess of it inside! After a day or two, check on it. You may need to reposition things (like flipping the folded board upside-down) to maximise exposure. Hope it helps, and good luck!
