I’m surprised they didn’t send you the expansion or the co-op version, to their credit I think they recognized a lot of people complaining about the end-game scenarios and made some really positive changes to allow the game to end alongside each story.

Is it worth getting the game if you also get the expansion? Would you say it properly fixed the flaws?

@@Hyperchicken yes. The expansion makes the game great.

I really recommend the two expansions as they fix the vast majority of problems with the base game, straight up overhauling the agenda system, allowing the game to actually end at the end of the main quest instead of randomly somewhere in the middle

They made an expansion for this game that turned it into a co-op, which to me completely saved it. All the great mechanics, but with a "victory condition" that actually made sense!

This game needs the Atomic Bonds expansion. Turning it from competitive to cooperative fixes so many things with it.
@mattgustavson27802 жыл бұрын
Adding a house rule to fix the endgame dramatically increases the enjoyment of the game. The expansions also add quite a bit of content to be enjoyed as well. The game features a solo mode for those who enjoy that(also needs a little balancing with house rules) and one of the expansions contains Co-op variants of all the scenarios for when you wanna work together with your friends.

Just so people don't get confused, there's this, and Fallout: Wasteland Warfare a Tabletop Wargame made by Modiphius. Plays *very* differently from this one. It gets hard to keep track, TES has a Wargame, an upcoming Adventure Game for Skyrim, and then ANOTHER Adventure Game for TESO.

I've played this game and its expansion a bunch with my friends and we almost always use house rules for victory conditions, because yeah I completely agree- winning can be just totally underwhelming. The expansion has a fun co-op mode, though, and it's fantastic to play imo
@relogos2 жыл бұрын
The worst thing in this game is the fact that progress in stories is not connected to player. At 2 players it's not that noticable but with 3 or god forbid 4 players its agonizing. For example ( not a spoiler but a representation of the mechanics ) you find a man being attacked in the wasteland do test, you did it suffer 2 wounds get and item add card X. Then another player goes and draws the card X and it goes something like this "Oh thank you for helping me here have an even bigger reward for absolutley fucking nothing". So yeah with 4 players you will start some chain someone else will finish it while you get a middle part of something someone else did.
@meryl-gear-survive2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, competitiveness doesn’t work well with that system. Luckily the expansions put you on the same team so it works out a lot better

Love the video, but the one thing I think should be mention is the shelf life. Even though you change the main story, some of the side quests can getvery repetitive very quickly, and thats a big part of the charm of the game.

Every time he refers to the Special Stats by their letter instead of their actual name (Strength, Perception, et al.) I go a little bit more insane EDIT: Yeah, this review pretty much echoed how I felt the one time I got to play this game. Really cool systems and mechanics, cool story progression, but the victory conditions are absolute mood killers. The core mechanics of the game feels like it's trying to evoke TTRPG gameplay, yet the influence / power track progression systems seem to make it feel like some sort of race instead.

I actually played this game last week so i was surprised at the review. Small world!. I have 2 major gripes with this game. The first was already leveled out in the video. The influence system is not fun. The second and this might just be a personal issue but the game has a ton of mechanics that do not complement eachother and bog the experience down for me. Set up took us 45 mins. There are 8 decks to keep track of in the start of the game which is annoying. The tile flipping mechanic and level up system are the only two things i would.say genuinely make the game fun to play. But the game expects you to keep track of too many things all at once. And by the end of the game players kind of just aimlessly walk around the same 2 or 3 tiles to complete their personal objectives or to keep getting encounter cards. And the lack of fun dynamic gameplay really calls into question the necessity of all these seperate decks that all do different things and all have their own special rules you need to reference. I will not be playing this game again. I can't say i had a bad time. It wasn't awful. But it was not worth the set up and clean up
