"You're trying to take down your opponent's sanity points" This sounds like it'll be a good game.

I haven't played Star Realms, I got Cthulhu Realms mainly due to the theme. The symbols and slightly higher complexity aren't that much of an issue for me. I think I should also mention that both this and Star Realms have free app versions on Steam and Android (not sure about iPhone, but I think it's on there, too?), so you can try them out before you buy.

yeah, i'm not saying it ruins the game or anything, but i'm not a diehard cthulhu fan and i prefer simplicity. star realms on steam is fun (although the AI's kind of an asshole)

So, about the symbols... I live in Mexico, which means that getting games in Spanish is way more expensive than getting them in English (since they’re printed in Spain). So I do appreciate there not being any necessary text in-game. Maybe that’s what they were aiming for? A more international market? They could have made them less obtuse, that’s true.

You actually played pnatonik artifact wrong. Its symbol means that you draw a card and then you discard a card. Also there is a free mobile game that would help you learn the game better. Its very well made

Have you ever tried Eldritch Horror? It's like a tabletop.

Funnily enough, I actually like the stupid cards for star realms. They are a worse and more convoluted system but I love flipping them over and doing all the numbers. TBH for both of these games it's better just to use a digital scorekeeper. Tl;dr, I have a star realms HP fetish but just use a calculator.

it can get a little overwhelming as cards trigger other cards, it doesn't help that the symbols are kinda obtuse

I totally agree, just use text, having to memorize shit tons of symbols for each game is just bad. I would have bought this game if it wasn't for that symbol crap. TEXT people.

Cthulhu was first mentioned in the 1926 short story "The Call of Cthulhu" by H. P. Lovecraft and has been referenced countless times by other media since then (alongside Lovecraft's other work in the so-called "Cthulhu Mythos")

With all due respect, this is your channel and you can do whatever you want with it. But is this going to be a boardgames channel now? You can do what you want with YOUR channel, and share your interests. But we are reaching testing ramen numbers here. So I am just curious.

I guess you guys are right I wasn't necessarily thinking about what he himself wants. I will continue to be subscribed and have on notifications. I suppose I was curious where this channel was going. But you both have given me something to think about, at least in how I phrase things in the future. So for that I tip my hat good sirs.
