I tried Dice Throne on Table Top SImulator expecting to play it once and move on as my group normally does with games. This one won me over to the point that I just ordered the season 2 battle chest (has my favorite characters) and the adventure box. Cant wait for them to arrive. I will probably get season 1 at some point but looking at the Krampus and Santa set has me interested as well. Great game!

My wife and i randomly picked this up and its immediately become a staple of game night. We normally play 4 player free for all and it usually devolves into fun chaos due to the random targeting mechanic

@Ratt159 - the updated free-for-all targeting rules are “king of the hill” style. You choose who to target with your attack, but if you target the person with the most health left, you immediately get to draw a card from your deck. It’s a nice incentive, but gives you freedom to choose otherwise if specific situations arise (like you know someone is saving up good cards and you don’t want to give them a chance to get you). Try it out. I really like it.

If you want a low-investment way to try and get people into this game they also sell separate 2-packs of characters. They're only like $20-25.

Highly suggest finding a meetup group, attending a convention, open gaming night at your FLGS, etc. Board gaming is an extremely welcoming hobby since if nothing else you need warm bodies to play a game 😂. Solo gaming is also a ton of fun.

I love Dice Throne. We have season 1 rerolled and season 2. It's an investment, but the replayability is crazy. It looks complicated, but it is actually super simple once you get going. If you can play Yahtzee you can play Dice Throne.

One of the few board games I actually own so it's a treat to see you reviewing it, I really like this one as a combination of MTG + Yatzee but more self contained since each character is a complete set so it's more like a fighting game roster, I just wish I had more people to play it with. lol I do agree the extra damage types are a little convoluted and exist just to cover certain edge cases, but it mostly boils down to defendable vs undefendable which is mainly for telling you to skip the defense roll on certain special attacks. (It also helps undefendable attacks always have that red spiky circle for damage instead of the normal black circle.)

This game is my favourite game of all time. I’m sure I’ve played it over 1000 times over the last several years. I agree 2 player is best, but 3 and 4 player is also fantastic. Barbarian, Ninja, Shadow Thief, Pirate, Seraph, Artificer - so many favourite heroes to play as!

Couple months late to this video but my best friend and I recently discovered Dice Throne at PAX 2022 and we love it. So far he’s gotten the Moon Elf/Barbarian set and I got him the Monk/Paladin set for his birthday. Just wanted to note re: your comment about balance, we’ve played two games (not including the short test game we played at PAX) so far and the first game we ever played, we literally killed each other in exactly the same round with his attack and my defense. Second game, he nearly killed me but I was able to modify the damage to stay up with 1 health and kill him with my defense. Amazing game, couldnt recommend more.

I get that it is an extra layer of complexity but I apricate different damage types that have varying rules. Five may be a bit much, it sort of depends on how often "Collateral" would come into play and if it couldn't have been just a special case of "Pure" damage. Thanks for the video!

This is easily a top 5 best looking games in my collection. The game play is simple yet exhilarating and can get dramatic wit the dice rolls lol. Not to mention, I have season 1, season 2 and adventures which adds a lot more of the game!!

this game is really interesting for sure. i introduce it to friends as combative yahtzee, lol. the only time i've had a friend bounce off it was because they were blasted drunk and couldn't understand it at all, which i guess they still remembered enough of to not want to play again. o well

My friend actually was at PAX East a few months ago and we played this yesterday. It was 3v3 game (paladin, treant, and shadow thief vs. barbarian, pyromancer, and monk). I was the monk and omg the chi can help you and your team or destroy others on the opposing. I almost had an ultimate but the paladin made me change my last die (dick move I know). It's really worth playing but it did cost my friend $95 so it can be expensive with two different versions.
