Board Set Up At The Braille House
This isn't the video for the week, I just wanted to get it out before it gets too old. Yep, it's deja vu all over again. Snap a deck, set up a board, crack the deck. This is the third time that it's happened to to me and the second time while doing a hospital flip. I don't think I should do that trick anymore. :(
Either way, it was amazing being at the Braille House and getting to see all of this stuff in person.

I ACTUALLY need help/motivation even though I don’t think it matters at this point. I just came home from skateboarding 5 hours. It was the first time I skated and let me tell you what. I can’t even STAY on the board. I actually went there and seriously tried just standing on the board, doing few pushes and they all ended in misery. I know, this is skatebording and nobody told that it was easy. Yeah right. However, I don’t think it is normal for a person to not be able to STAND on a board even when she tries for 5 hours. Now I feel insecure and I feel like I’m worthless because I can’t succeed in any area of life, I can’t even have fun. I literally am experiencing a mental breakdown and I’m planning on reviewing my life expectations. Everybody says “You should never give up” but life gave me up. I’m not successful in ANY area of life and this was the cherry on top of it. I’m about to get to the limit where I hate skating forever and break my board. So yeah, I need help.

Look, everyone progresses at different speeds. Some people have better balance, or are just gifted at learning new things. I feel the same way as you a lot of the time, like I can't succeed at anything, so why try, right? Skating, in any form, will teach you perseverance. It's hard. Really hard. But if you keep stepping onto that board you'll figure it out sooner or later. Take some deep breaths, give it a day or two, and try again. Don't hold yourself to an impossible standard, just set small goals. No one is ever good at skating at the outset, we've all looked like mentally challenged orangutans on top of our boards at some point. No one will judge you for being bad at skating, and if they do, they're just haters. The biggest block you have to overcome is yourself, please don't give up so easily. You've got this!

@@marulofficial6886 skateboarding is mental. If you dont believe in yourself you will fail. Try and turn around your mentality. Find a way to get small wins and dont be afraid to celebrate them. When you stand on your board dont think about falling or being a failure. Think about having fun. Think about why you enjoy skating. Just relax and dont get down on yourself. Your attitude is what is holding you back. Not a lack of balance or skill. Dont get down on yourself. Keep trying. Try different things. But most importantly remember that failing and falling are a part of the learning process in skating. It never means you cant ever do it and it never means you should stop trying. It's only gonna feel that much better when you can stand on the board like its solid ground or when you can push off and roll around without losing your balance or psyching yourself out. Set small goals, dont get discouraged and enjoy the wins when you meet them. You've got this!

Keep at it, 5 hours is not that big of a deal. You WILL get better if you keep at it, ride that sucker EVERYWHERE you can. At first it is alot better to not try to go for a 5 hour nightmare, instead try to do two half hour sessions at least 5 times a week or something along those lines, when you start to get irritated with it use that frustration as motivation if you start to get really pissed off take a break. The first 1-6 months can really get under your skin there are all sorts of walls you will stand and look at for hours, days or weeks it will infuriate you but you WILL smash them down. Falling is part of the experience and you almost always "level up" from it, if you have problems falling properly find videos on how to take a fall. Roll on your board into the grass and let it throw you off and practice bailing properly its actually more fun than it sounds. When you are confident you can fall properly it makes things so much easier mentally. Just don't let it get the better of you and don't quit, NOTHING feels better than when those four wheels hit the ground I promise you especially when you feel like you have nothing left. The blood sweat and tears actually pay off nobody is going to take advantage of your efforts but you.

yeh i would highly advise that you try pushing goofy when in fakie (that is considering that you usually skate regular) it is just better for your progression, good for control when you get more comfortable with it, and in general it will be a good stepping stone for the future of your skating when you start doing switch tricks, and not only that it will make riding fakie wether it be going down a ramp or coming out from a 180 so much easier.
